Give me ALL your tax forms and the info I ask for. Go find everywhere you bank/invest/borrow/work and check if any tax forms are there. Having only SOME of your info is like having 400 of the pieces to a 1K-piece puzzle, useless.

I finally did it. My admin recommended this last year. We both put up a "slow to respond" auto-responder on email with a bullet list of responses to the most common questions we're getting. Fingers crossed we can get out of our email and get some returns done.

This is a change I made this year. Last year, I had a few jerks email ON the deadline day saying "...the nebulous 'after tax season' was unacceptable..." So now I say "in May." The concept of others (i.e., us) taking PTO seems lost on some people.
Note for next year..... Don't say after tax season, instead say we will review items like that in May

If your entire office is closed for the holiday, your automatic reply email should not say, “If you need immediate assistance please contact another member of the engagement team.”

I did this with a job. Very glad I did. The place had a very unhealthy culture. By me starting with, "I think I'm the wrong controller for your company," it opened the door for a few mtgs to try & improve things. They ultimately didn't want to change anything 1/
More people should talk to their boss before deciding to leave.

It's a fair question. I think the key point is that even tax accountants sub specialize. Trusts and estates and inheritance have so much nuance in them that I don't touch them. It's too easy to mess up. I refer out the work when the client has a trust or estate return needed.
