@jennyrozelle It's a fair question. I think the key point is that even tax accountants sub specialize. Trusts and estates and inheritance have so much nuance in them that I don't touch them. It's too easy to mess up. I refer out the work when the client has a trust or estate return needed.

#TaxTwitter Sharing a #win and something I just realized last night. I have a client that grew up in a sad abusive parent situation who is NC with that parent. As I sent the #DocuSign , I realized those KBA questions might be hard, either emotionally or logistically. 1/

Well #TaxTwitter , just after head colds finish rolling through our family the last week and a half, 3yo William relapses...on the way to the airport as I drop of Heidi & the girls for 4 days in Texas. We planned for W to stay back but my plans for childcare are disintegrating. 1/

#TaxTwitter New client, trying to figure out basis in rentals, inherited property. Sent @loom video for the info I was trying to get. I disclaimed, "I realize you prob don't have all these records..." Client uploaded wills, prop tax forms & other docs from the 1940's. #impressed

#TaxTwitter tell me I'm not the only one who's just a little bit giddy about the email notifications of my own tax forms becoming available.

#TaxTwitter , input please. I have long avoided "housewife" (thank you #DonnaReed ) as a SAHM's occupation on the TR. I've used "homemaker" (also, bc sometimes it's a SAHD). Since it's a req'd field on the tax return, is there another preferred term for a non-wage-earning spouse?

@IRStaxpros We know. Give us an easy method to report these to you. We would happily forward emails and voicemails if you just gave us a simple repository to do so.

I have enough clients that do like my business model. #Boundaries friends. Be kind but firm & don't get walked over. I'm weary but not dead, so I've got more fuel in the tank to give my wife & kids attn I haven't been able to in deadlines past, and that's what matters. 2/

#TaxTwitter At a toxic former job, the IT guy asked me for a mtg to show me his Excel spreadsheet to track inventory. I knew our bosses didn't care & would never support using this, but it was a work of beauty. I told him it was amazing, 1/

Our clients complain that we ask so many unnecessary questions. But we all know how many times this has happened. It takes asking all these questions to watch their six. #TaxTwitter

I thought a client retired in 2021 but asked if they had a W2 just in case, when they didn't send with their tax docs. Clients sends back a $200,000 W2. #taxtwitter

#TaxTwitter - man, I still feel burned out. Anyone else feel that way? I’m still trying to hammer out returns and I can’t turn it off.

#TaxTwitter , I'm happy to report Norah did mostly awesome on the campout. Last night was a little tenuous with night terrors. @AccountingAsArt , I followed orders and took lots of pictures. Go find me on FB if you want to see the whole album.

Random #tax thought today #TaxTwitter . It's even more baffling that clients object to #extensions . IF extensions DID increase a client's risk of #audit , why would we recommend them? Do clients think we want/need more work?

@korlando2251 You did *not* just say "quick question" to a bunch of accountants. It's a good thing you're one of our favorites...
