In case you haven't heard, a classic March Winter storm arrives this weekend. The risks for heavy snow are uncertain but increasing, with the potential for a foot or more of snow. While some light snow totals will be possible into Friday, the main event arrives late Saturday.

Another round of light snow will move across northern parts of the area through Friday morning, with amounts mainly 1-2”. Light rain is expected near the Missouri River Valley, with a glaze of ice possible in the transition zone to snow.

Yes, measurable snowfall is coming Saturday through Tuesday. With continued uncertainty Thursday evening, the range is still from 2" at Sioux City to 23" at Marshall. Our advice: Plan for the middle scenario, and be glad if it's less!

One year ago....
On this date just last year, we were setting the stage for a blizzard with brutal wind chills to follow in a couple days across the area. Frigid air dropped the high to only 2 above zero in Sioux Falls with readings north of I-90 below zero. 🥶 What a difference a year makes!
