A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH has been extended until 1 AM for almost the entirety of the Brazos Valley. Wind gusts up to 70 mph and hail up to 2" in diameter possible.
We officially have the second named storm of the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season. Tropical Storm Beryl has formed roughly 1000 miles ESE of Barbados and is forecast to reach hurricane status this weekend.

After a warm, muggy, and stormy week, we are being treated to some cooler and quieter weather for your Friday! Saturday looks lovely too, but Sunday will bring in another round of rain. Here's the latest:
The cold front we have been talking about all week long is finally on its way! The timing of the front has shifted back slightly, so the Brazos Valley could expect to see rain and cooler air move in anywhere between 4pm-10pm. Here are the details:

5:05pm radar update: Radar indicated quarter-size hail has been confirmed along I-45 between Buffalo and Centerville. Storms are continuing to rotate, and the tornado warning remains in effect through 5:15 and will likely be extended.

We are continuing to track Hurricane Beryl across the Caribbean Sea, and though there is still a lot of variability in the forecast, we don't anticipate any impacts through the end of the week. For now, plan on more heat and humidity around the clock.
Only 5:30am, and Huntsville has already broken the daily rainfall record for May 2nd. Nearly 6 inches of rain has fallen at Huntsville Municipal Airport, and there is more to come.
