CFL Free Agency (BC): The BC Lions have reportedly agreed to terms with free agent quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, according to league sources. Jeremiah Masoli leaves the Ottawa Senators after three seasons in which he was limited to only seventeen games during his stay with the Redblacks as numerous injuries played a significant role. In 2024, Masoli served as a backup to Redblacks quarterback Dre Brown, but still saw some playing time and would finish the season starting three games in which he threw for 1,149 yards, 5 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions. NFL Player News (Panthers): Veteran receiver Adam Thielen announced that he will be returning to the Carolina Panthers in 2025, according to the team's YouTube channel. Adam Thielen is coming off his second season with the Carolina Panthers in which he was limited to only ten games as a hamstring injury in October forced him to miss seven games. Thielen was able to rebound and have an big second of the season in which he would finish the season entirely with 615 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns in a season where he played with both Andy Dalton and Bryce Young. Thielen on his decision to return: “I mean, the media already ran with it, that I said, ‘I got football left in me.’ I was kind of saying like, ‘I can play, but I don’t know if I’m going to play.’ But no, I feel good, I took two weeks off, like I said I would at the end of the season, and got my energy back. Started training already, so I’m ready to give it one more shot.” Following his departure from Minnesota following the 2022 season, Thielen signed a three-year deal with the Carolina Panthers and will be finishing out his contract with the team in 2025 and become a free agent next offseason where he could be entering age 35 season. NFL Team Report (Seahawks): The Seattle Seahawks are hoping to work a deal out this offseason with quarterback Geno Smith, according to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith will be entering the 2025 season in a contract season with the team and is due for a major salary cap hit at $45.5 million. It is worth noting that the Smith's base salary at $14.8 million is not guaranteed and he does have a roster bonus he is set to earn next month which is worth $16 million. Geno Smith is seeking to remain with the team in 2025, but according to recent reports the team is set to be looking at other options at quarterback before making a decision on a new deal with Smith. Should the Seahawks turn to the NFL Draft for a quarterback they are looking at outside options like Quinn Ewers, Kyle McCord, and possibly draft riser Jaxon Dart of Ole Miss.
