In 2018, together with @leadtz and local farmers, we started restoring trees in Tanzania by applying #KisikiHai. In 2021, the land already shows significant changes with 3000+ restored trees. This is only a small piece of the 6.3 million trees that we have restored together! 🌳

Together with @leadtz, we dug thousands of bunds in Arusha Tanzania in February. Thanks to these 'Earth Smiles' rainwater can infiltrate into the soil, replenish groundwater and regreen the entire area. The first vegetation already showed up and this is only the beginning! 🤩

Do you remember our drone shots from Pembamoto (Tanzania)? It has been raining enough to fill up the 5,143 bunds we've dug! Before, about 82% of the rain just washed away. Now, we're able to capture millions (sometimes even billions) of liters. And now we wait . 🌧️🌱

We are expanding our reach by regreening 4 more villages in Monduli, Arusha. We are going to dig 12,000 water bunds and will be restoring 86,000 trees by using Kiski Hai! This will also improve water availability, soil health, crop yields, grass, and fodder for livestock. @leadtz

We started digging again! Last week, 200 members of the Olorika and Ilchalai communities picked up their shovels to dig an incredible amount of 1,200 #bunds per day. Together with our partner @MaasaiWild, they will dig over 60,000 bunds, restoring 750 ha of degraded land. 🌱

It's 🌧 season in Kenya, which makes it's hard to dig bunds. That's why we have a digging pause: the bunds capture rainfall, the soil gets fertile again and vegetation starts to grow. We'll pick up the shovels early next year and keep you posted about the regreening updates! 🌱

Today is the birthdate of our late patron Desmond Tutu. Archbishop @TheDesmondTutu was a social rights activist and a Nobel Peace Prize winner. His tireless commitment to a just world also extended toward raising awareness about climate change. Tutu passed away last December.
