My view: if you reach office at 8:30am, you go home by 5pm (30min lunch). I always remind junior engineers what time they should go home. If I give a task after 4pm, I remind them to continue tomorrow, don’t do unpaid OT. I was once junior. Let’s build a mental healthy culture.

Sejak bila public transport kurang comfort berbanding kenderaan persendirian? Kenyataan yang paling “YB” sebab kenderaannya ditaja oleh rakyat, lepastu suruh rakyat “sacrifice” comfort. Di Switzerland, keretapi dan bas awam ada “wood trim”, “kids zone”, “bistro” dll. (1/n)

Let’s be honest. The only reasonable explanation for consultants to prefer ART (over BRT or LRT/MRT) is lobbyism and corruption. Everyone working in transit can probably agree with me on this. Anyone who disagree please comment a reason why ART is better than BRT or LRT.

Tak cukup tren. Daripada 58 tren dibeli untuk MRT KJL, 8 telah “out of service” dan 9 telah “decommissioned”. Ini kesan daripada dasar kerajaan sejak 2018 yang lebih fokus kepada mempromosi kenderaan persendirian dan bukan pengangkutan awam terutamanya rel.

Malaysia commuter rail (KTM Komuter @ktm_berhad ) has a lot of potential. Politicians ( @anthonyloke & @anwaribrahim ) need to understand that commuter rail everywhere in the world uses subsidy to generate economic spillover, which in turn is much bigger than the subsidy itself.

This is correct. ECRL original 1.0 + HSR is the best solution. ECRL 2.0, even though involves Negeri Sembilan, resulted in an additional 2 hours of travel time, that is 2 HOURS of everyone’s journey for the next 100 years. Glad @weekasiongmp ECRL 3.0 reverts back to 1.0 route.

It’s also important to know the difference between free time and availability. Workers should have free time to do what they like, sports, hobbies, travelling. Less is more. It’s better to have 6-8 hour highly motivated workers, than 12 hour of tired / unsatisfied workers.

Daily reminder the PH govt cut the LRT3 train in half (6 car -> 3 car) because "low demand" Oh and the LRT3 can only come every 6-7 minutes during rush hour... because they also cut the total trains by half (42 -> 22 sets)

I was looking at iphone SE 2020 ads and people saying its so cheap $499. Yea its cheap. So I searched engineer salary in US to compare the buyability. So monthly US engineer salary is $6727 and the phone cost around 7.4% of their monthly salary while in Malaysia

We also need to extend these single track rail to capture more cities. It is unacceptable that top 20 major cities like Melaka, Kota Kinabalu, Batu Pahat, etc are not connected by rail. Railway development needs a consistent allocation in national development budget, even ~1-2%.

Updated the suggestion for rail extension: double-tracked electrified railway line (KTM ETS) branches from Tampin to Melaka (Ayer Keroh), Muar, Batu Pahat and branching again - one line to rejoin Kluang via Ayer Hitam, and other line to terminate at Iskandar Puteri via Pontian.

In terms of road infrastructure, the UK has a total length of 422,100km and Malaysia 290,099km. Not bad. What about railways? The UK has 15,811km track and Malaysia 2,783km. The difference is way too big. @tzafrul_aziz @niknazmi we need diesel trains more than electric cars.

We hope the new Prime Minister, TS Muhyiddin Yassin, will focus again on public infrastructure, esp. in transportation. For a start, -complete the MRT project in full (3-line); -restart the delayed Kuala Lumpur - Singapore High Speed Rail; -and complete Pan Borneo Highway.

I agreed with Tan Sri that women are more qualified than men. Civil engineering is a male dominated industry and in Malaysia, there are more women graduates than men every year. The problem is that bosses are still men. We need affirmative actions to put more women in charge.

@ErnestOnPT Before anyone comment on "what about ETS", just know: - it took ETS a mere 2 years (2017) to be full in capacity back when Northern EDTP finished in end-2015. - ETS doesn't serve Melaka, Muar, or Batu Pahat. HSR does - At best, HSR will be completed in 2032, 7 years after ETS

Pengalaman admin: wanita ada kelebihan tersendiri sebagai site engineer, terutamanya (& bukan hanya) daripada segi komunikasi. Women site engineers do as good if not better job than their men colleagues IMO. First hentikan diskriminasi terhadap wanita onsite, esp segi fasiliti!

Automatic metro trains in #Copenhagen have a ‘control desk’ on the front shelf so kids can ‘drive’ the train. It’s just a small thing, costing virtually nothing but (if recent experience is any guide) it’s VERY popular & easy, feelgood PR for public transport. @dlr_london
