, please make sure Johor gets a real LRT (with “rail”) like Penang LRT, and not a “fake train” like ART with rubber tyres.
Johor needs LRT.
Jangan lupa buat tender terbuka lagi.
My view: if you reach office at 8:30am, you go home by 5pm (30min lunch).
I always remind junior engineers what time they should go home. If I give a task after 4pm, I remind them to continue tomorrow, don’t do unpaid OT. I was once junior.
Let’s build a mental healthy culture.
@HudaMahmud79
@JuruteraAwam
so imagine this,
woke up at 4am, 430am take bus,
630am reach office, solat subuh,
and then a quick nap
830am start work
it is quite fair to get off at 530pm actually,
but the funny thing is, many eyes judge you for going off early,
6pm take bus, 8pm-9pm reach home...and repeat
Sejak bila public transport kurang comfort berbanding kenderaan persendirian?

Let’s be honest. The only reasonable explanation for consultants to prefer ART (over BRT or LRT/MRT) is lobbyism and corruption.
Everyone working in transit can probably agree with me on this. Anyone who disagree please comment a reason why ART is better than BRT or LRT.
Kuala Lumpur metro is the world’s 28th longest network and 29th by number of stations.
But in terms of ridership, it is 75th. We all need to shut up and take the train.

Sketch of Malaysia railway and the much-needed capacity upgrade.

Malaysia needs a public transport transformation. Serious investment for railway projects (build more LRT/MRT, connect more cities with KTM and increase service), frequent buses and better routes, cycleways and more walkable cities.
Railway approved in kilometres by five recent Malaysia leaderships:
PM6: + 1,160km (over 9 years)
PM7: - 385km (over 2 years)
PM8: + 0km (over 1.5 years)
PM9: + 50km (over 1.5 years)

Let’s see how
@anwaribrahim
does in land public transportation - railway.
All Malaysian engineers/students, read this now!

A 200km railway could connect 1.6 million Johorean (incl. 3 of 4 largest cities) to rail network.
JB Iskandar Puteri > (Pontian) > Batu Pahat > Muar > (Tangkak) then splitting:
1) for Gemas and the East Coast ECRL
2) for KL and West Coast ETS
Let's start building the railway.
The most rewarding thing about being a civil engineer is to physically see your hard work benefiting thousands of people every day.
For those working in rail, literally hundreds of thousands of people use the station, embankment, bridge, tunnel, that you worked on every single
Berita baik bagi jurutera di Malaysia. The current entry level civil engineer salary (J41) is approx. MYR3,000/mo incl. bonuses. Gaji yg lebih tinggi dalam sektor kerajaan bermaksud syarikat 2 swasta kini perlu bersaing utk dapat jurutera yg baik, dgn naikkan skim gaji mereka.
Alhamdulillah, menyambut baik pengumuman YAB PM

Malaysia commuter rail (KTM Komuter
@ktm_berhad
) has a lot of potential.
Politicians (
@anthonyloke
&
@anwaribrahim
) need to understand that commuter rail everywhere in the world uses subsidy to generate economic spillover, which in turn is much bigger than the subsidy itself.
I did a small research comparing the current service of ASEAN focus cities' rail systems (MRT/LRT, Commuter Rail, and Airport Railway)
MRT/LRT in Jakarta is progressing much slower than in other cities. We lead in commuter rail, a system built by the Dutch that we barely expand
Tony Pua excludes the following costs:
- extra RM10,000 every year every Rakyat from reduced car dependency
- extra 28 holidays every year every Rakyat free from traffic congestions
- 98% carbon reduction
Tony Pua also owed the Rakyat RM350 million from 2018 decisions in MOF.

The electric train was invented in 1879. The safety bicycle six years later.
Unleasing the potential of these two “obsolete” technologies is our best bet at addressing the converging climate, health, resource, and inequity crises.
Not smarter cars. Not cleaner cars. Fewer cars.
People don’t really appreciate the beauty of these diesel multiple units (DMU) running on single track in Malaysian rain forest.

Tahun 90an, saya ulang alik kerja Shah Alam - Petaling Jaya tak teruk keseksaan macam ni.

While we await the inevitable KL-SG HSR, how about an extension of double-tracked electrified KTM line providing ETS service to Melaka / Ayer Keroh, Muar, Batu Pahat, Ayer Hitam and Kluang?

Ada kata promosi EV, kita ketepi pengangkutan awam.
Ya sistem pengangkutan awam penting.

This is correct. ECRL original 1.0 + HSR is the best solution.
ECRL 2.0, even though involves Negeri Sembilan, resulted in an additional 2 hours of travel time, that is 2 HOURS of everyone’s journey for the next 100 years.

It’s also important to know the difference between free time and availability. Workers should have free time to do what they like, sports, hobbies, travelling.
Less is more. It’s better to have 6-8 hour highly motivated workers, than 12 hour of tired / unsatisfied workers.
@adriansyahyasin
Jika terpaksa menerima projek lebuhraya, cuba untuk sekurang-kurangnya membinanya di bawah tanah (underground highway).

This is important. Never forget what

Tun M lost his seat, hopefully next term it’s LGE time to lose.
Daily reminder the PH govt cut the LRT3 train in half (6 car -> 3 car) because "low demand"
Oh and the LRT3 can only come every 6-7 minutes during rush hour... because they also cut the total trains by half (42 -> 22 sets)
@KKMPutrajaya

A US engineer monthly salary $6727. A Malaysia engineer monthly salary RM4,000.
iPhone SE (cheapest iPhone ever available) costs less than 10% of that US engineer’s salary, but about half of Malaysia engineer’s salary?
I was looking at iphone SE 2020 ads and people saying its so cheap $499. Yea its cheap. So I searched engineer salary in US to compare the buyability. So monthly US engineer salary is $6727 and the phone cost around 7.4% of their monthly salary while in Malaysia

Few facts about Malaysia v Singapore:
Minimum Wage
🇲🇾: RM1,500
🇸🇬: Has no min wage but low-income people earn at least $1,750
Median Salary
🇲🇾: RM2,600
🇸🇬: $5,070
*Let that sink in: 50% of the population in SG earn more than $5,070, while the remaining earn less than this
Rakyat Malaysia (“rail sistem engineer”) yang pergi kerja di New Zealand tetapi cakap Malaysia tak perlu lagi projek infrastruktur rel.
Mentaliti “pulling the ladder up behind you”, dan dia harapkan followernya kekal mundur.
Aku bukanlah pakar ekonomi tapi bila tengok pada nak tukar sebiji points machine ni pun makan sampai ratus ratus ribu NZD kat sini, aku fikir kalau HSR macam mana lah ya.
We also need to extend these single track rail to capture more cities. It is unacceptable that top 20 major cities like Melaka, Kota Kinabalu, Batu Pahat, etc are not connected by rail.
Railway development needs a consistent allocation in national development budget, even ~1-2%.
Updated the suggestion for rail extension: double-tracked electrified railway line (KTM ETS) branches from Tampin to Melaka (Ayer Keroh), Muar, Batu Pahat and branching again - one line to rejoin Kluang via Ayer Hitam, and other line to terminate at Iskandar Puteri via Pontian.
In terms of road infrastructure, the UK has a total length of 422,100km and Malaysia 290,099km. Not bad.
What about railways?
The UK has 15,811km track and Malaysia 2,783km. The difference is way too big.
@tzafrul_aziz

we need diesel trains more than electric cars.
Bahagian mana yang misinformation? Let’s talk. I believe to address climate emergency, Malaysia needs a world class public transport system.
It also helps B40 and M40, unlike EV which is top down T20 first, M40 maybe, B40 tetap tak mampu.

Sarawak and Sabah definitely needs a new railway. It will be an ambitious project like the Pan Borneo highway and benefit the Rakyat for generations.
Malaysia can provide rail connection to every city/town easily, quickly and cost-effectively with single track non-electrified rail and some Stadler Bi-mode Multiple Units with gauge-changing bogies.
These trains will be able to run on diesel (up to 140km/h) and electric (up to

for supporting Bas Muafakat Johor. Consider introducing dedicated bus lanes 💙 Bus lanes will increase the frequency / reliability, and reliability attracts ridership. First, bus lanes. And, develop step-free footpaths and cycleways around the bus stops.

It’s not ICE vs EV, the problem is why the government is cutting funding to railways (fully electric, lower carbon/km/passenger) and funding EV tax breaks? The answer is because the government doesn’t care about carbon emission /the rakyat, but only cares about EV manufacturers /

I agreed with Tan Sri that women are more qualified than men.
Civil engineering is a male dominated industry and in Malaysia, there are more women graduates than men every year.
The problem is that bosses are still men. We need affirmative actions to put more women in charge.

Before anyone comment on "what about ETS", just know:
- it took ETS a mere 2 years (2017) to be full in capacity back when Northern EDTP finished in end-2015.
- ETS doesn't serve Melaka, Muar, or Batu Pahat. HSR does
- At best, HSR will be completed in 2032, 7 years after ETS
