@DruggiePolitic Speaking of high doses! This study used Vyvanse for meth withdrawal management, starting at 250mg

@DruggiePolitic The Rat Park guy (Bruce Alexander) wrote a paper arguing for stimulant substitution in 2001! There was a pretty serious HIV crisis in Vancouver in the 90s that was very driven by a rise of cocaine injecting

@DruggiePolitic Plus, testing laws in US max at 60mg of Dexedrine 😅. An American paper from 2008 is like “this study didn’t show anything but given that this other Australian study testing 120mg had much diff results and our pts showed no heart rate change at 60mg, higher doses are needed lol”

@carriemae68 Thank you!! I wasn’t sure if it was worth it because maybe it’s a slim chance that I haven’t been exposed yet at my age! But that also means that future potential partners are also likely to have been exposed and be unvaccinated because of their age and my benefits cover it!

@dogzrcoolnstuff @gbunny @gorskon Bro, you asked for an example of work that grad students do. I gave a pretty obvious example of “work.” Have a great night playing with your little goalposts, champ!

@dogzrcoolnstuff @gbunny @gorskon Preventing the deaths of hundreds of thousands of coastal-living people? A large part of America is also on the west coast and vulnerable to disastrous tsunamis too. Or do you not care about those Americans either?

@dogzrcoolnstuff @gbunny @gorskon Although a lot of the oceanography industry is funded by George Lucas and not your taxes. But you asked for an example of actual work that PhD students do and I gave one.

@gbunny @dogzrcoolnstuff @gorskon Right?? One of the most challenging parts was constructing something that could withstand the pressure of such extreme depths, which is why they had to be spheres.

@gbunny @dogzrcoolnstuff @gorskon The marking of hundreds of papers and then the explaining to every single undergrad why they got that mark and what they can do to improve 😵😵

@dogzrcoolnstuff @gbunny @gorskon Write papers, write code, conduct statistical analysis, conduct the surveys or interviews or focus groups if the research has that. My ex-husband built sound-recording spherical ocean robots which helped map the floor of Marina’s Trench when he was a phd student in the US
