I am Gen X. I think of the 70s as the era when Hollywood pushed the boundaries and made great art (Godfather, Taxi Driver, Apocalypse Now). Earlier eras made great stuff, but could not push boundaries because of general sentiment and censors. When I think of 80s movies, I think “craptastic” I love Top Gun, Iron Eagle, The Last Dragon, The Karate Kid, Rambo, Indiana Jones, Breakfast Club, but wouldn’t put them in the same category. It was a less cynical decade, and a heckuva lot of fun to experience as a teenager.
