#BrainTumor
but still I fight for my ASD/APD & ASD/PDA/ADHD/SPD/GAD sons & young carer daughter 🕎
Today my 17 year old autistic son (very nearly 18!) has been offered - after too many declines to want to count - a one month trial job offer with an engineering company finally utilising the skillset he's worked so hard to acquire throughout his schooling. Couldn't be prouder 🥰
This is absolutely vile. I say that as a Jewish woman holding gender critical views. Obviously I've reported it to Twitter but I really don't expect anything to be done.
@RebelsAnimal
@waitrose
You do this when so many are struggling trying to decide whether to heat or eat? Be ashamed. This is actively turning people against your cause.
@Jebadoo2
Sadly it's not going to make a difference with this one. Girls used to be (some still are I'm sure) put on the pill to help with heavy periods, not puberty blockers. She's either not the smartest cookie or she was lied to by someone about what the pill was and what it does...
@ripx4nutmeg
Hey
@waitrose
did you know that gender critical beliefs are protected under the EA 2010 and deemed WORIADS. It appears that your delivery driver may have discriminated against your customer. Might want to check your legal (not Stonewall) advice on this.
I have cried today. A lot. Our driver this morning, upon learning we were visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau this morning to look for family, arranged early entry to search the archives. The tour guide kept checking that I was ok. I still cannot understand how the world did not know 💔
So this is me, apparently heading into brain tumour removal surgery. Not fully convinced until it actually happens but look forward to seeing you all when I get back out...
@DavidMonk999
@SkyNews
Trans identified people have the same human rights as everyone else. When they want to get into opposite sex spaces, services & sports, what they actually want are privileges not rights.
@DrProudman
How nice for you that you've never needed a female only space. I have. Some wonderful women stopped my rapist following me into the women's bathroom that I fled to. Other wonderful women provide rape services with no males anywhere around. I was 16 & I needed single sex spaces.
@DrJenIzaakson
@miffythegamer
Brain surgery January 17th this year. Mixed sex wards both pre & post op. Worst experience was 2 days post op with a older man who constantly walked up & down the ward opening our (3 females) bed curtains as he did so until our complaints were finally acted upon 36hrs later....
@DeborahFW
As a rape survivor I was so traumatised by a male at the time that I could not (& simply would not) have accessed rape survivor services where there was any type of male bodied person. I am here today only because of safe, single sex female only spaces at that time so
#NoThankYou
@AdamRamsay
No. Just no. This is a man (no GRC) given a job advertised for women only who had the temerity to suggest “bigoted” rape survivors should be re-educated about transgender rights as part of recovering from their trauma. Women have rightly said no. And continue to say no.
@mikegalsworthy
Fairly standard... I live in Wiltshire and the day after the referendum result a "delightful" person heard my Kiwi accent (been here nearly 13 years) & told me that be/c of Brexit I'd need to go home. Torn between laughing hysterically or explaining NZ not part of the EU...
@MarieKeating
@DeniseMBreen
Trans identified males regardless of what they call themselves, how they feel, what they wear, whether or not they take cross sex hormones or what surgeries they may or may not have had, remain male & should always be treated accordingly for medical matters including screenings.
@archer_rs
The NHS just saved my 17yr old ASD son from sepsis on Friday with emergency surgery (less than 12 hours from initial diagnosis to recovery ward). The hospital care and the daily wound re-dressing care has been nothing short of miraculous. Absolute superheroes all of them.
@jk_rowling
All my children have obviously Jewish names which makes sense because we are Jewish. One school has messaged me to confirm they are aware of our religion and what security & policies they have in place.
@SatraPeach
I'm still going by ahf/oc* at work and, after being challenged initially to which my response was "I thought you'd understand" then walking away, I've been left to it.
*Adult human female/of course
@ausfem2021
I had no choice but to play this game. So, for quite a few years now my work email has included "ahf/ofc" - adult human female/of course. I've only ever once been asked how to pronounce this and deflected by saying (in a hurt voice) "I thought you'd know"... No follow up qus...
@ImWatson91
@jk_rowling
I needed female only rape services when I was 16. I couldn't bear to be around any men & went back to my single sex boarding school where the most fabulous ever house matron helped me & found me a female only space & service. Without that I'm not sure I'd be where I am today.
@Jebadoo2
I am shocked, upon reading Michael's article today, to discover that 2 other staff were suspended for the crime of not telling on Rachel. I'd missed that during the ET. Noone is safe from this BS. I hope those 2 other staff members have had good support and help.
@ProfJoyceHarper
@birthandbiology
My personal view (and I'm aware that many don't agree) is that it's men who believe they are women wanting validation of that.
@BBC100women
Calling your list 100 women when, in fact, clearly only 98 are women. Co-opting the word women to include men who simply state they "feel" like women is an abuse against women. Stop it.
Update: so apparently I'm doing so well the doctors want to kick me out ASAP as in tomorrow!I pushed back a bit on that as my friends have been working on a support plan & I'm now currently on a Sunday discharge plan after Tuesday morning brain surgery....
@Girlguiding
It doesn't look like your vetting is very "rigorous" at all which disappoints me as both a former Girl Guide and as a former Girl Guide leader. 🚩
@NoName_xx_ahf
I baked this chocolate fudge cake with chocolate buttercream to take to a picnic with a bunch of amazing women yesterday. I really don't care what IW thinks about it. We all had a great time 😊
@NHS_HealthEdEng
Noone wants anyone excluded. What women want however is for existing rights to be upheld and not given away to men who decide they feel like women. Single sex spaces and services are important and should not be compromised because of how one group feels on any given day...
@sianberry
Being inclusive does not have to mean subjugating the existing rights of women. As a rape survivor & former child abuse counsellor, I know very well the need for safe, single sex spaces. There is room for reasoned debate & finding solutions that protect everyone.
#nolongergreen
@RussInCheshire
And me... 20+ yrs as a specialist immigration & refugee law solicitor & I still have to tell people (family mostly) that refugees aren't obliged to seek asylum in the first "safe" country they arrive in, nor do they "get more benefits" amongst other myths. More humanity needed.
So, no matter how much you plan, life gets in the way. This is me, in Auckland City Hospital, waiting for emergency surgery to remove a lesion on my brain - not at all what I had planned for this current NZ visit &, in fact, interfering spectacularly with this plans...
@BootstrapCook
Worked in a supermarket many, many moons ago. Vividly remember (and cheering on the sidelines) our security guard deliberately turning his back when nappies and formula couldn't be paid for.
@jk_rowling
You are an absolute superstar 🌟 As a rape survivor who needed - really needed - women only services, thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️
I'm 47 today & I am grateful for another birthday as 4mths ago on this date I was awaiting surgery to remove a brain tumour - a surgery you quite literally sign your life away for. I haven't enjoyed birthdays for a few years but now I see it as another celebration with my family.
All set up 🎂 Even if noone does come (lots of cancellations on Friday but one family has now said they will try to come "later") we will eat well! Happy birthday to my son 🥳
@SVPhillimore
This is the bloke who is also organising a protest at the Dundee Woman's festival but claimed he was too frightened to go out after making a complaint about Glinner. My patience with the testerics has gone completely.
@RowlesDavis
@yvetterusse11
Without a dedicated single sex rape service I wouldn't be here today. I certainly wouldn't have made it through a very much male-dominated law school. I really wonder at those women who fail to understand that many traumatised women simply can't be around any male-bodied person.
@Ashworth101
The video of the pack of officers walking away was simply chilling & yes, IMO, sinister. Are the police afraid of being labelled as transphobic/losing Stonewall points for enforcing the bylaws of the park and protecting women legally gathering to speak?
@TheGuyPearce
It was a reasonable question. You were brilliant in Priscilla - in fact I simply can't imagine anyone else in the role ☺️ Genuine discussion is good for everyone. I'm sorry you felt you had to delete the tweet & apologise.
@pdkmitchell
@ForwomenScot
Women talking amongst themselves about the absolute horror that is FGM and VAWG is nothing to do with trans identified people. Nothing at all.
@KirstieMAllsopp
Really? Please just look at the profiles of those responding to you with genuine concerns about single-sex spaces for women and girls. I'm a former CSA as well as a rape survivor. Without a single-sex rape service back in 1993, I cannot honestly say I'd be here today.
@AdamRamsay
You're still ignoring the actual story - this is a man (no GRC) given a job advertised for women only who had the temerity to suggest "bigoted" rape survivors should be re-educated about transgender rights as part of recovering from their trauma. Women still say no
#NoThankYou
@BylineTimes
Perhaps if your journalist had done some research and due diligence on the history of the person he was interviewing as well as the actual legislation in play before undertaking the interview, this could all have been avoided?
"Urgent" MRI today. "Urgent" in that I've only been waiting 5 weeks since an escalation of possible
#BrainTumour
re-growth symptoms. The hospital rang to cancel it yesterday but, when I dissolved in tears at that news, they managed to fit me in today on a different scanner....
@Aja02537920
As a former CSA counsellor it's the recording device (switched on or not) being taken into a women's bathroom by a trans identified male that put up all the red flags since the event itself. Particularly when it was explicit that bathrooms for the event were sex not gender.
Face is definitely less swollen today. Had an influx of lovely visitors all bearing gifts &, if you are a Kiwi, you can probably imagine how decadent these particular wee choccies feel to me in a hospital bed right now!
There are 9 protected characteristics in the Equality Act. Sadly Stonewall seems to champion only one these days. As a rape survivor, a victim of stalking and a former CSA counselor, I don't have any confidence in Victim Support anymore following this tweet.
We’re proud to be the UK’s third best employer for
#LGBTQ
+ people, ranking top in Wales and first among not-for-profit organisations in the
#StonewallTop100
.
Thank you to all our volunteers, staff and networks for creating an inclusive workplace.
@stonewalluk
@StonewallCymru
@LucyMPowell
The thing is that quite a lot of us have made it very clear that we don't do
#CompelledSpeech
nor do we want male bodied persons in female spaces regardless of which "mode" they happen to be in on any given day. And so
#LabourLosingWomen
@MhairiHunter
Noone has said that Rape Crisis should not have helped that person. What women are saying - what I am saying as a rape survivor - is that there is a documented need (& the law expressly allows) for female only i.e. single sex spaces for organisations such as rape crisis centres.
@ScotRail
@merthurlin
The OP deleted their tweet. Does that tell you something perhaps
@ScotRail
? Also, I'd suggest reading the Forstater EAT decision.
@ScotRail
@merthurlin
#NoThankYou
Chris perhaps you should try reading the Equality Act 2010 rather than Stonewall' "guidance". And the EAT Forstater decision.
@StandingforXX
Good grief. I shouldn't really be surprised though should I that yet another police force doesn't seem to understand what a "hate crime" actually is in law...
It's been another poorly after
#brainsurgery
kind of day mostly confined - yet again - to bed. Still I pulled together dinner from the freezer & helped youngest decorate the cakes he baked yesterday as part of his homework (try a new hobby) so almost
#winning
☺️
@MForstater
I rather suspect such people have their heads buried in the sand right now or are very studiously looking anywhere but at your Tribunal hearing....
It's my amazing daughter's 18th birthday today 🥳 She doesn't want a party & has chosen pasta bake for her birthday dinner rather than a restaurant meal, but I was able to make her smile with this balloon display & her favourite red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting 🎈
My dear sweet soul
#ASD
youngest picked these after CBT where he discussed wanting to get me something for my birthday today - thank you to his therapist (you know who you are!) for the suggestion ❤️
I am certain that noone will ever quite know just how much of a true philanthropist
@jk_rowling
is. So many people from absolutely all walks of life have benefitted from her generosity possibly without ever knowing who their wonderful benefactor was. Such a beautiful heart 💖
@StandingforXX
In case anyone is interested there has to be an identifed crime first which can then be demonstrated by/motivated by "hostility based on race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or transgender identity". Two step process. What is the crime alleged?
It's
#BrainTumourAwarenessMonth
and, quite honestly, I wish I never knew about this. On 17 Jan 2023 I had a 3cm WHO grade II mengioma removed from my brain. Since December 2023, I've had increasing headaches & an odd tinnitus. I now have a previously unscheduled MRI on 12th March
@NorthSomersetC
@sarah_owl3
@JosTrust
Perhaps the language you use could include the word "women" to make it clearer for those who may not have English as a first language.
@Belstaffie
@FemNorthern
If I was to be strip searched I can say with absolute certainty that, as a rape survivor, there's no way I would allow a trans identified male officer to search me. I'd be incredibly vocal about it & if that was reported as a hate incident I'd happily challenge them legally on it
@ThePosieParker
Youngest (11, has ASD & ADHD) used to watch the channel. I wasn't best pleased with it ever but delighted when son decided for himself that it was awful to "women like you mum" and stopped watching.
@DreyfusJames
And this is exactly why I really struggle with those who state that it's a "both sides" issue. Show me where those of us supporting safe single sex spaces for women & upholding the existing law and legal definition of same sex orientation post these horrors. We simply don't.
