Farhan Masih, a mentally ill Christian, was arrested in Pakistan on Jan 26 for alleged blasphemy after a complaint from a local farmer. Despite his known mental instability, no investigation was conducted. Activist Joseph Jansen calls it a serious oversight. #Pakistan

Pakistan: Mentally ill Christian jailed for alleged blasphemy in Pakistan Farhan Masih, 28, was arrested on Jan. 26 from his house in a village in Sahiwal after a local farmer, Muhammad Bilal Khan, complained of blasphemy to police. Joseph Jansen, rights group Voice for Justice, visited Masih's family on Jan. 28. Everyone in the village was aware that both Masih and his younger brother were mentally unstable, he said. But no preliminary investigation was done by the superintendent of police when receiving a complaint against an unstable individual. It's a serious lacuna in the case, Jansen added.

Pakistan: Merry Christmas to all and those who celebrate, whether openly or in silence. For Christians, this season is a time of faith, joy, and reflection, yet many endure persecution—imprisoned, sentenced to death, or forced to convert in Pakistan. I pray for freedom, for change, and for the strength to live in faith without fear.
