A weekly thread of all Catholic Churches in South Bend: First up, St. Patrick's. Parish founded by Irish immigrants in 1858. The current church was consecrated in 1887. St. Patt's was the first of many Catholic parishes on the West Side and has the tallest steeple in the city!

@conorsen Ironically...there is a whole book from the 80s that already was pointing to this and identified 19th century u.s. as the most text based society in history.

@2024dion There have been other projects in that timeframe not included where the city just rezoned the property or it was built as right. But I wanted to identify active support.

I don’t understand why the Biden admin was totally fine with the country going insolvent, it makes no sense. So concerning and important to stop the bleeding. Do you think there was some nefarious agenda or the Biden admin thought everything was fine? We would have crumbled like the Roman Empire if they kept on with their horrific spending habits. I’m baffled about all of it, completely baffled.

@Chris_arnade Not saying I disagree with this, but isnt the example of Covid kind of put some cold water on this theory? The policy class heavily believed in vaccines, and that did not translate well with other classes.

Former Drewrys Brewery 2022 and today. This site was a hazard to the community and a symbol of South Bend's deindustrialization. Now its poised for new growth and life. This was possible because the city government was proactive in stepping up where no one else ever would.
