Hey folks. I've been on Twitter since 2007. Coming up on 16 years :) Sadly I think it's beyond a redemptive medium at this point so I'm out. I'll be pastoring if you are in the city and looking for a community to worship with. Wishing you much grace

Tim Keller said something to me in 2006 that I think about several times a day. "We are exposed to so much brokenness in the city, we must constantly expose our hearts and minds to beauty." It never occurred to me to use beauty as a form of resistance. Changed my life.

Almost every Pastor I talk to is deeply discouraged, overwhelmed & having serious doubts about longevity in ministry. Ministry is hard at the best of times, but these are excruciating days for leaders. Unnecessary criticism could do irreparable damage right now. Be kind.

It is possible to strongly disagree with the Supreme Court nominee on abortion, gender, and sentencing record and STILL celebrate the fact that a nation that used to enslave Black people now has an African American woman headed to the highest court in the land.

Folks, the book of Revelation is primarily about Jesus and his victory, and our glorious destiny. It’s not really about America and whatever events we project into it out of self importance. Jesus folks, it’s actually about Jesus.

Absolutley struck to the heart today reading the list of the Apostles Jesus chose. We know almost nothing about most of them. Its possible to be chosen by Jesus, build redemtpive history, and be unknown to the world. Recognition in heaven breaks the need for recognition on earth.

I am constantly amazed at how little fruit comes from the labor of my sermons. We have to get people into the scriptures themselves for deeper formation. One talk a week cannot do what daily, deep, meditative reflection on God’s word can. And then the power of living it out.
