I don’t want to connect my coffee machine to the wifi network. I don’t want to share the file with OneDrive. I don’t want to download an app to check my car’s fluid levels. I don’t want to scan a QR code to view the restaurant menu. I don’t want to let Google know my location before showing me the search results. I don’t want to include a Teams link on the calendar invite. I don’t want to pay 50 different monthly subscription fees for all my software. I don’t want to upgrade to TurboTax platinum plus audit protection. I don’t want to install the Webex plugin to join the meeting. I don’t want to share my car’s braking data with the actuaries at State Farm. I don’t want to text with your AI chatbot. I don’t want to download the Instagram app to look at your picture. I don’t want to type in my email address to view the content on your company’s website. I don’t want text messages with promo codes. I don’t want to leave your company a five-star Google review in exchange for the chance to win a $20 Starbucks gift card. I don’t want to join your exclusive community in the metaverse. I don’t want AI to help me write my comments on LinkedIn. I don’t even want to be on LinkedIn in the first place. I just want to pay for a product one time (and only one time), know that it’s going to work flawlessly, press 0 to speak to an operator if I need help, and otherwise be left alone and treated with some small measure of human dignity, if that’s not too much to ask anymore.

Losing one's job when they have done nothing wrong sucks. It happened to me in my 40s when the company that employed me went bankrupt and closed the factory complex where I had advanced up to department manager after years of work, so I do have sympathy in that regard. What sucks even worse is that so many unnecessary jobs that are funded by the taxpayer exist in the first place. A top performer at an unnecessary job is still doing work that isn't necessary. I hope they can quickly find new jobs, preferably in the private sector where they can contribute towards the economy instead of being a drain on it.

You explain it by saying "This is what Christians believe." Christians don't owe other faiths an explanation of their beliefs, just as other faiths don't owe Christians any explanation of their beliefs. Christians believe that Jesus is the savior. No explanation beyond "This is what Christians believe." is necessary.

I'd like him to say that to my face. I'd love you hear him explain to my why I must pay for children's entertainment in other countries. I'd love to show him my paycheck and my bills and have him explain to me why money that I worked and sweated for should pay for his pet projects in foreign countries. He says it's a good for me to pay for this kind of shit. I say it's good for elected officials to serve the people that elected them instead of the rest of the planet.

@cover_dark @kenklippenstein Free speech means people that you hate can say things that you hate. Free speech doesn't allow us to call for violence, but we can absolutely call people by derogatory names if we choose to do that. Yes, it may be rude, but it is not illegal.
