After several months of “phoney war”, the German army finally attacked France and the Low Countries on May 10, 1940. In less than a fortnight, the Wehrmacht swept through the country from the north. The French army was one of the most powerful in the world, but it seems that it was unable to hold out – leading to France’s great debacle of the 20th century, when on June 22, 1940, Marshall Philippe Pétain’s government signed the armistice with Nazi Germany and started the ignominious story of French collaboration.

Here is a dose of reality. 🎖🎖 by Russian Defence Ministry on progress of special military operation (10 February 2025) ▫️ Russian air defence systems have shot down three U.S-made HIMARS MLRS projectiles, one French-made Hammer aerial bomb, and one Uragan MLRS projectile, as well as 51 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles. ▫️ In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 653 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 42,851 unmanned aerial vehicles, 592 anti-aircraft missile systems, 21,278 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,514 MLRS combat vehicles, 21,477 field artillery guns and mortars, and 31,438 units of support military vehicles have been neutralised. 🔹 Russian Defence Ministry
