Tile sets done right on your #C64 No.1 Sam's Journey 2017. Beautifully designed tiles and map with superb use of colour ( BG Yellow, M1 Pink M2 Light Gray). lovely sense of depth in the backdrop (despite no parallax) + Some cute animations + Clever mix of Hi-res and Mc pixels.

@NerdySwissGuy By the time the true capabilities of the #C64 were unfolding, it was already the end of its life span. Many people missed out on the apex of the commercial era.

@birt_shannon @qwjqwj314 Now I'm curious to check out a few other C64 games that utilised it. I can think where its been used for flames/bullets etc. The transparency effect can be nice in itself.

@birt_shannon @qwjqwj314 Agreed. In the case of Dragon Breed alternating the tail sprites was a smart solution to getting that cool tail within the 8 sprite per line limit.

#C64 Retrograde was also littered with some nice extra scenery elements, notably 'Space marine' and 'Gene Stealer'-esque statues.

@KylePrometheus My prediction - the best is yet to come. #C64 graphics haven't been pushed to the limits yet - anywhere near.

@pwwit1 One thing with a couple of the enemy sprites is that they share the same colouring as the scenery and as such feel a part of the world.
