Orion Kerkering's dad crying for an entire inning in his son's MLB debut was one of the coolest moments of the season. I don't care what team you root for.
Me: "Hey guys, I may sneak in a little Simple Man from the PA while deGrom warms up."
Gary: "You want us to lay out, right?"
Ron: "What else are we gonna do? Give stats?"
The attention has been totally unexpected but I'm certainly grateful for the overwhelming praise the
@SNYtv
broadcast has received over the last week. Thank you all for watching. We're just getting started.
Here's the whole segment for those that understandably missed it. As a baseball fan, it was one of the more disheartening scenes I've seen at a ballpark.
After a four-hour rain delay Saturday's Mets vs. Nationals game was postponed and will be resumed tomorrow as part of a split doubleheader.
SNY's Keith Hernandez called it "unconscionable" while Gary Cohen said it was "shameful."
When the greatest player on the planet comes to town, you pull out all the tricks. Ohtani is spectacular. Here are some of my favorite stills from the last 2 games.
8/7/22: One year ago today, these 2 moments kind of changed everything for me. I know this year sucks and this feels like a million years ago, but thanks for all your support over the last 365.
Regarding this Diaz video: I believe my exact words in the 7th inning were, "Nobody knows it yet but we aren't going to commercial when Diaz comes in"
5+ million views later...
I've heard from soooo many of you over the last few days with such kind things to say about our SNY crew. I'm enjoying the games as a civilian, but we miss you too!
"We're so lucky that we have all these people that give us a chance to do what we do."
Gary, Keith, and Ron have a special message for the SNY crew and the best fans in baseball 💙🧡
The cherry on top of a great night. We took home some more hardware today! Cheers to greatest TV crew in sports and the most supportive fans in baseball.

Ron Darling: "Am I the only who got chills?"

What a ride 2022 has been. I've been so overwhelmed by your support all year and I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity bring you the pictures with our amazing crew here at SNY every night. Now I get to join you at home and watch the playoffs from the couch!
Thank you.
The Mets' regional sports network, SNY, already had some of the best announcers in baseball. But John DeMarsico, the network's director, has created several viral moments this season as he feels the mood in the stadium and improvises a cinematic response.
Not only should the jobs of sportswriter and TV critic overlap, but movie directors should get to direct some ball games; I crave the Stop Making Sense of baseball.
Thanks for the kind words and follows, folks. I'm just a guy who is lucky enough to have learned how to direct baseball from a legend (Bill Webb) and be surrounded by the most incredible crew/booth in the game. Trying to make baseball broadcasts more cinematic one cut at a time.

More on Monday’s doubleheader:
If you're a Mets fan and watch SNY regularly, I don't need to tell you about how great Pete Stendel is. He's a living legend and HOF human being. Please send all your prayers, love, and positive energy to the Bronx right now
The human body is rarely capable of harnessing that much electricity over a prolonged period of time. Such a shame. Anyways, here's this moment again just because...
Approaching 4 million views? Woah.
With College Football, US Open, and NFL Week 1 all going on this weekend, one of the most popular videos in sports right now is from a Mets/Twins game.
I've been saying it since last year... THIS is how you grow the game
I've had a bunch of people tag me in this, so I'll just use this opportunity to promote my event at
@MovingImageNYC
again. A celebration of baseball, cinema and the avant-garde!

As someone who grew up loving the film Major League, it was a thrill to give Edwin Diaz his Rick Vaughn moment in 2022. So glad to have him back on the field.
2022 was the biggest year of my career so it felt appropriate to share my top 20 favorite production moments from the Mets season before we enter 2023. 🧵👇
Thank you to the Mets and
@Jay_HorwitzPR
for including SNY production in today's celebration by giving us the same ring the players received. Such a meaningful gesture and the cherry on top of an already special day.

TV legend, Pete Stendel charges out of the Bullpen gate after the last out and does a damn fine job keeping up with Marte from the "family photo" all the way to Buck by the dugout with the camera on his shoulder. Not bad for a guy on the wrong side of 60... Legend indeed.
2 years ago today, we covered the 🎺🎺🎺 live for the first time. This was during the combined no-hitter when we had no idea of the sensation this would become later that summer.
It's shocking how much other broadcasts have to color within the lines mandated by management.
During the pandemic, when we relied on home teams to provide us a "world" feed, I was once informed that a particular team wasn't allowed to show their manager in the dugout. Insane.
Gary Cohen on the Orioles/Kevin Brown controversy.
"Let me just say one thing to Baltimore Orioles management. You draped yourself in humiliation when you fired Jon Miller. And you're doing it again. And if you don't want Kevin Brown, there are 29 other teams who do."

I'll never be in any Hall of Fame or Ring of Honor, but today it sure felt like it. Gary is one of us, and if you've ever sat in the upper-tank at Shea or Citi, he speaks for you. Today was Gary's day but it was also ours. Congrats to him and congrats to you all out there.
