I left Japan three weeks ago now, and I can’t tell you how much I’ve missed this wonderful Spirited Away company.
As they move from Tokyo to Osaka, they will become more and more like Chihiro, fighting the ghosts, climbing the ladders and flying through the air.
Bless you all!
'Spirited Away' has finally opened at the Imperial Theatre, Tokyo, after an exhausting but exhilarating struggle to earn a living during a pandemic.
With much gratitude for our partnership with Studio Ghibli, and endless thanks to our amazing creative and producorial team.
Just out! New chamber version of Jane Eyre to be staged in Tokyo next January. Mone Kamishiraishi and Tomona Yabiki alternating as Jane and Helen Burns. Yoshie Inoue as Rochester. Can’t wait!
All our non-Japanese creative partners had to work from the UK and the US on zoom, getting up at all hours of the night and day to attend rehearsals and previews and still managing to make magic with their extraordinary talents.
Our cast of 40 actors and dancers, led by Kanna Hashimoto and Mone Kamishiraishi have been unbelievably supportive and positive throughout the most arduous rehearsal process I've ever had to endure.
But we're open!

George Gissing - first great socialist novelist. Amazing detail in describing the lives of the artistic demi-monde. New Grub Street, The Old Women….and many more. Clear influence on Orwell.
