NEW VIDEO: Check out the storm damage along I-26 in the Summerville area yesterday evening. Numerous trees were blocking the roadway. Traffic was backed up for miles overnight. Thankfully, I-26 is back open but debris/trees are down on the side of the road.

Whoa! Check this out! Robyn Schnessel of West Ashley was on a video call Monday morning when her two dogs started barking uncontrollably at the front door. She investigated and this is what she found banging its snout on her front door! Nope!
Quick personal note. Some of you have noticed that I’ve been off the air for a little while. Early last week, several members of our household, including myself, tested positive for Covid-19. We are very thankful that so far we have all been asymptomatic and are doing great!
CHARLESTON: 6PM SUNSETS START TODAY!
Today's sunset in Charleston will be at 6:00pm. This is the first 6pm sunset since November 7th. And this also starts a stretch of 270 straight days with sunsets after 6PM!
GOOD NEWS: We dodged major coastal flooding in Downtown Charleston(and surrounding areas) with the last two high tide cycles and it looks like we'll make it 3 in a row. The wind direction has saved us. NNE and now NNW helped to keep the surge out of the harbor.

FIRST ALERT: The strongest band of Hurricane Ian is moving onshore in Charleston County. This continues to drift westward toward Downtown Charleston. Wind gusts up to 70 mph likely. Power outages are likely as this band moves through over the next 1-2 hours.

Here's an updated list of the peak wind gusts associated with Hurricane Ian. Shutes Folly is an (uninhabited)island in the middle of the Charleston Harbor. Wind gust over 60 mph has been recorded as far inland as Charleston International Airport.

FIRST ALERT: A Storm Surge Watch is now in effect for Charleston, Coastal Colleton and Beaufort Counties. Preliminary forecasts show that 2-4' of peak storm surge is possible Thursday or Friday. Details will become clearer over the next 24 hours.
