Yes, and this has been the standard position for Republicans since at least 2000, hence no border deal under W. even when he had both chambers.
Perhaps stating the obvious here, but Mike Johnson and House GOP do not actually want a border deal. They want to run against dems on the border. They don’t want to negotiate.

@jtuckermartin I've thought the same thing Tucker. My best guess is the responsibility to keep building momentum in a new swing-state and a yet-to-be swing state. You and I both know momentum is easily stalled when races aren't run.
