I’ve been a rancher all my life and have always been involved. It has taken me until now to feel truly confident running equipment and tackling jobs by myself. This morning I filled this bale feeder alone, without issues, and that’s no small thing to me.
Learning to farm in my 30s. I’m a rancher at heart but I’ve sure enjoyed this new challenge. Still seeding some cow chow but will be combining for the first time this fall!
Allow me to introduce you to our free roaming cow, 45D. She decided the winter field wasn’t to her standards anymore so she hiked 3 miles home and LEAPT a 4 wire fence. Such an athlete
Accepted defeat from Mother Nature and moved the mature purebred cows to the “Plan B” calving field. Spent the day plowing out a spot, putting some straw down and chasing them closer to home. Calves are hitting the ground now, let’s all hope for Spring to show up!
Moving this breeding group so the 2024 sale bulls can settle in to paradise. This chunk of land is something else - immune to drought, productive, natural water and shelter.
Branding is a family affair for us. In this photo you can see me with our youngest two, my husband, sister in law, mother and father in law.
Also, the kids shirts are just 👌🏼
What an honour it was watching my Dad, Byron, be inducted in to the Canadian Hereford Hall of Fame! His contributions to the Hereford Industry are lengthy and something to be proud of. The love of Hereford cattle runs deep in our family thanks to the guidance of these two.
What a sale. We cannot thank our customer enough. This industry has its ups and downs but our customers make every day worth it. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Swathing a terrible crop to scrounge up some bales. Works out to cost $300/ton to feed cows this winter. These little blonde heads in the swather make it worth trying again next year

JW Hats is officially launched. Refurbished and redesigned hats with a western focus, and feminine flair. I’ve always struggled to find the perfect cowgirl hat, so I figured I should start creating my own.
Alright twitter, as soon as I saw this calf I knew Mom would have had a tougher birth than normal. Bragging rights if you can tell me why! Experienced ranchers butt out 😉
This was a new one for me, so I called in the big guns (my dad). This heifer pinched a nerve while calving - I crawled in behind her to help get the calves hips out. Then it was time to get the babe fed, and mom taken care of. Happy to say she made a full recovery!
Moving the yearlings to find some grass. A few timely rains in the spring does not end a drought, the tap shut off and the grass burnt up in the blink of an eye.
