@DavidLammy Why do UK politicians keep trying to aggressively sabotage any peace efforts? This is certainly not a mandate from the public, so who is pressuring our leaders to try to keep the death and money flowing?

I'm unclear what you mean to say here. You're saying Ukraine's (US proxy) government have a sovereign right to bomb and kill their Russian-speaking citizens, because they're within the sovereign territory of Ukraine? I mean, yes, I suppose they do, within the parameters you've set out there. But it's certainly played a role in current events (and this posture actually played a big role in the Crimea events, earlier). Some might argue that it's not just immoral but also quite unwise to harass and kill large numbers of your own citizens, especially when they're within regions that could easily break away from you in response...

"Ukraine is innocent in the war’s creation" Well, to a point. They're a client state of the US, so a lot of the provocation that led to the invasion was US mischief, true. But the UKR government were bombing and persecuting their own people (in the Russian speaking regions), and that's pretty appalling behaviour and certainly gave Putin cover, domestically, to sell his invasion to his own people. So perhaps it's fair to say that the catalyst was for the war was the NATO / red line provocations (the culmination of a series of them) directed by the US State Dept ghouls ...but the Ukrainian govt weren't exactly covering themselves in glory with respect to creating civil war conditions that made a larger war more saleable, and more likely?

That's highly misleading. TRUE, this is not the only agency grifting 6 ways from Sunday — it's budget is smallish (circa 50bn pa) compared to Pentagon or HHS... However you're being obfuscative in terms of how much of the USAID money is being spent on ideological and political nonsense. Look at the vast sums being given to Ukraine's farmers ...but stating in the grant text that it should be used to promote women, LGBTQ, etc folks. See that would fall under "Economic Development", but actually it's pushing ideological BS. The money for sex changes in South America — that would fall under "Health", but once again is actually the pushing of a very particular ideology and set of political agendas.

Before they wrecked Lebanon, they wrecked Jordan, remember that? They were expelled from Kuwait (for expected reasons) and flooded into Jordan, where they promptly began to terrorise and destabilise the society ...culminating in a civil war and the infamous "Black September" when they attempted to kill the King. After being expelled from Jordan they moved on to Lebanon and destroyed that country too. I honestly don't know what you practically do with a population of people who are so thoroughly radicalised and behave so violently wherever they go. It clearly isn't a matter of finding a nice spot to live, as they already had that and each time they attempted to turn the nice place into a warzone by acting like a maniacal death cult. Trump has suggested relocating them and I understand his suggestion (it's clearly not tenable to have them live next door to Israel)... but they can't safely go anywhere else either, because they bring so much wanton violence with them. A huge problem, I really don't know how it can be solved. And I don't blame Egypt, Jordan etc for refusing them, they have experience with this. But we mustn't take them either, absolutely not.

They've been dismissed from their jobs at Bankstown Hospital in Sydney and are being investigated, thankfully... but the casual and confident manner in which they speak about their murderous intent is really alarming. We have a huge problem in the west, one that we literally imported. And at present, we're not even speaking honestly about that problem yet, let alone solving it. Depressing.

These things (superstitions, and medieval 'curatives' such as "mummia") are real, but were NOT widespread as a practice, obviously. It's like a handful of cases we think, persisting into the modern period, almost all of which would have been hoaxes (ie. not actual mummies from Egypt, for some quite obvious logistical reasons, if nothing else!). This goes in the bucket of tales labelled: Fun, but not well substantiated.

@TomTugendhat It's gonna cure cancer Tom, but only we give them £18 billion as part of the deal. ...I mean, do you want people to DIE?? Quick, sign the deal and pay, so we can cure cancer! Don't ask questions!

What was the truthful bit? The Victorians were not feasting on mummies from Egypt. Nor was the Victorian era something that overlaps with the "12th thru 18th century" — the Victorian era is named for Queen Victoria and did not begin until mid way through the 19th century. The period covering 18th century England was the Georgian, not the Victorian era. The only thing I can think of that she got right is that there are some large statues and monuments in Egypt?!

Actually they got expelled from Kuwait for causing havoc, then went to Jordan and began doing it there, culminating in a full on civil war where they tried to kill the King (Black September). Then they moved on to Lebanon and completely wrecked that formerly functional (Christian) country in the exact same way. I really don't know what the solution is given they seem to love violence and death, and bring it with them wherever they go. I don't blame the other nations for not wanting this, especially the ones that have first hand experience like Jordan and Lebanon.

@ppie_w @SpectatorOz Probably because of what the Palestinians did in Jordan and Lebanon, when those nations took them in.
