@GenoQuest @Grummz I wish I had the answer. My best guess, she was one of the new writer's OC and anybody with any say was busy with other projects. The whole expansion felt like it was a first draft which was not reviewed. And that's how we got Dawntrail and one of the most hated new characters.

@GenoQuest @Grummz She is like if you took Naruto and removed any semblance of depth and character development. Heck, Naruto had more development in 5 Episodes than Wuk Lamat did in an entire expansion.

@birdzeye_view @GenoQuest @Grummz And even the VA being trans isn't the issue. Since Japan criticises the character heavily as well. And their VA is knocking it out of the park. Wuk Lamat is just an absolute failure of a character on the writing front.

@NoWokesThanks @Pirat_Nation Things are hopefully changing soon. Japan seems to usually be a few years behind the trend, but Sony already has a new Japanese CEO and a number of California staff has also been let go. Changes are happening.

@AI_EmeraldApple @Pirat_Nation I hope one day we learn what happened behind closed doors. How many blunders had to happen for the character writing to end up as it did? The entire expansion feels like a first draft. Plenty of decent ideas, but horribly implemented.

@HomieSanto @Pirat_Nation The gameplay elements are fun. Dungeons, Trials and Raids. But getting to them is an absolute slog compared to past expansions. The game got carried hard by the story and lets you overlook the aging MMO elements. Without a good story to distract, you notice the cracks.

@Crim14Gate @HubBandar @Pirat_Nation I'm sure most of us were ready for a chill adventure, especially after they kept advertizing it as a vacation expansion. But I was expecting some Indiana Jones or Road to El Dorado type shenanigans. Instead I had to listen Wuk drone on about peace and happiness for 50 hours.

@ChronoLuminaire @HubBandar @Pirat_Nation As someone who didn't understand the Stormblood complains coming from my FC, I have to say the writing in Dawntrail was just abysmal. Little of the character and world building holds up to scrutiny if you think more than a minute about anything.
