veteran center Daniel Theis embraces his role handling some of the "dirty work" in first season with
#Pelicans
. That includes a few non-glamorous tasks, like setting picks and making hustle plays. Preseason profile on Theis:
Josh Hart has been letting JJ Redick stay in his New Orleans guest room until Redick finds a place to live. Hart joked that he decided to treat Redick like a son: "At night I tuck him in, give him a kiss on the forehead and tell him good night, then wake him up in the morning."
CJ McCollum on ESPN TV postgame interview: "I'm enjoying my time in New Orleans, happy to be there. They accepted me with open arms. The food is tremendous, the people are great. We're putting together a winning culture with Willie (Green). I'm excited about the future."
Zion on NOLA: "Drew Brees says it best, ‘If you love the city, it will love you right back.’ When people ask me about the city, I say, ‘I love it here. This is my kind of vibe.’ (Locals) say, ‘Welcome to the city. We’re glad to have you. If you need something, just holler.' "
Zion Williamson on getting to travel to New Orleans on Friday to begin his tenure as a member of the
#Pelicans
: "It means a lot. I know that when I get off that plane, I can say, ‘This is my new home’ officially. I’m home."
A grinning Josh Hart on why he hired a chef upon moving to New Orleans: "I was having bacon-wrapped shrimp and grits, stuff like that, deep-fried oysters. I can’t eat all that during the year – I’m going to feel fat, and I’ll be slow on the court and everyone’s going to boo me."
Lonzo Ball on his 14 made threes over the last two games: “When I’m open, just shoot it. That’s all it really comes down to. I’ve been putting the work in, now it’s about translating it to the court. It’s that simple.”
CJ McCollum speaking in Portland today about his adjustment to New Orleans: "I'm happy to be in this situation. It's 75 degrees every day, I can eat gumbo if I want, Southern cuisine, and they've got French wine. Basketball has been great. It's been an easy transition."
Lonzo Ball was working out with Brandon Ingram in

practice facility tonight - both were getting in some extra shooting - when Ingram found out he was named a Western Conference All-Star
Zion Williamson after

practice: "(In
#NBA
), everybody can shoot. You can’t really help (defensively) too much, otherwise it’s an open three. I love the spacing. It’s almost like a dream come true for me. Because every time I attack the basket, there is space.”
CJ McCollum on beating Lakers: "We understood the magnitude of this game. We were up 2-0 in the season series and wanted to get up 3-0, give them a loss. We've got a lot of young dogs, guys who are fearless and aren't afraid of the moment. They stepped up big tonight."
Zion Williamson on frequently scoring off feeds from Lonzo Ball: "It’s great playing with a guy like that. I can make cuts off the ball and sometimes break the play, but I know he’s going to see me and find me. I think it definitely opens up the game a lot for me.”
Lonzo Ball (20 pts, 5/9 threes at Indiana) on teammates encouraging him to shoot: "They tell me that every day. I appreciate every last one of them for staying on me. They know what I'm capable of. I've just got to come out here every night and be consistent for them."
It's official.

go from 1-12 to start this season to a play-in tournament berth. What a turnaround by this team and stellar work from the coaching staff and players to keep battling through some bleak times early in 2021-22
Jahlil Okafor on postgame radio, asked what he’ll remember most about his 20/10 game: “My father (being here). He found out I was starting and took the next flight out of Chicago. My biggest supporter since Day 1. That means a lot, to have somebody in your corner like that.”
CJ McCollum on the reserved Herbert Jones having no need for being in the spotlight: "He doesn’t like the attention. He just wants to do his job and go home. He’s from Alabama: Slow living, put your work in, enjoy your time with your family, and go home. I understand it.”
Ty Lue on
#Pelicans
: "My biggest thing is just the job Willie Green has done this year. They started 3-16, but have been 31-27 since then. Getting his team to believe, staying the course. I'm really happy for Willie and how they persevered and got to this point."
Brandon Ingram on Lonzo Ball's improvement as a shooter: "It’s a beautiful thing to see. He’s put in the work. He goes to the gym, even when I say I’m tired and I’m taking days off. He’s there all the time. He’s falling in love with the game of basketball. I like what he’s doing"

point guard Lonzo Ball on his new

city: "Everybody says when you’re in New Orleans, you know you’re in New Orleans. There is no other place like it. It’s a blessing to be here."
Larry Nance Jr. on his appreciation for New Orleans and its sports fans: "In the seven months I’ve been here, I’ve seen a community that is going to rock with this team. If we show love for the city and provide some excitement, the fans will give us that back tenfold."
Zion came back out to the court postgame to work on his form, starting close to basket then gradually moving out to foul line. He was 8/16 tonight on free throws
CJ McCollum on
#Pelicans
: "We need our best players on the court. We need to be able to play extensive minutes together, especially in meaningful games, in big games, and really showcase what we have to offer. For us to make a real playoff run, that's what it's going to take."
Lonzo Ball improvement from three-point range has helped make
#Pelicans
one of most prolific offenses in
#NBA
(league-best 119.4 ppg since Feb. 1). Having spent countless hours in gym working on his form and shot, Ball is in midst of best stretch as pro:

Asked about playing with very young

team, a smiling CJ McCollum said, "They're like a breath of fresh air. They're funny, have good personalities, they dance, have all of their handshakes. I've been in the league a long time - I've got to come up with some handshakes."
Zion Williamson on what the last month or so was like for him: "Being real, it sucks watching from the sideline. I just want to be out there. But seeing the potential, we’ve got a lot of great pieces. I’m excited to get on the court with those guys."
Josh Hart: "A lot of people say they want to win, but they don't want to do the dirty work. They don't want to crack back and get rebounds, play defense. If you really want to win, you're going to do those things. You can tell who wants to win by what they do on the court."
JJ Redick on
#Pelicans
: "This is a drama-free group. At no point during the season did we point fingers or place blame on anybody. This is a group that’s had each other’s back all year. That’s my expectation going forward. We’re going to make the most out of these six games.”
Lonzo Ball has seen dramatic spikes in trips to the foul line, three-point percentage in February. Among players who've made 40+ treys this month, he leads
#NBA
at 47.4%. As a result,
#Pelicans
have No. 1 offense over their past 12 games. Story:
What a cool gesture by Josh Hart to wear Ingram's jersey and sit courtside after he was traded. Never seen that before. I've heard a few fans nearby yell "We love you Josh!" from the other side of the arena

are 6-2 at home since Dec. 10, with only losses coming vs. West elite (Uta, Phx). Josh Hart on team building a homecourt advantage: "We're a team that's on the rise. We need this city to embrace us fully and support us every night. That was big."
Zion Williamson postgame with
@ESPNRadioNOLA
on Lonzo Ball (tied career high of 33 pts): "Lonzo texted me last night after the game and (said) he was going to show up today, and his apologies on (Monday). Those were big words. He showed today what he's all about."
BREAKING: The owner of

good-luck charm at draft lottery, Connie Halphen of Metairie, has been given two season tickets for 2019-20 by the team. David Griffin and Alvin Gentry gave her a tour of practice facility and Halphen was greeted there by dozens of team employees
Dyson Daniels on
#Pelicans
: "I'm very familiar with the players. I study the game a lot. I was watching them this year in the playoffs, just to see them make their run. I was (rooting) for them, hoping they (advanced). I saw the strides they made."

roster has numerous connections to Lakers, So. California (as well as UCLA). Several players gave tributes to Kobe Bryant during Sunday's game (pictured: Lonzo Ball's sneakers) and later spoke about what the legendary guard meant to them. Story:
Zion Williamson attended his first

community event Saturday in New Orleans, doing the honors by throwing down a dunk for first basket at renovated Goretti Playground. The No. 1 pick helped dedicate the new court with a clinic in New Orleans East:
Anthony Davis on his relationship with the Crescent City: "I love the city of New Orleans. I love playing for this city. This city has shown me a lot of love, so I couldn’t ask for a better place to be.”
Rajon Rondo, explaining his philosophy, one every point guard on every level of basketball can use: "I’m a big believer in the entire team watching film, because you’re able to appreciate what your teammates do and what they do best, so you’re able to play to their strengths."
Mike Conley on Herb Jones: "(He's guarding) some of the best players in the league, guys like Donovan (Mitchell). The way he moves, it's obvious he's a natural defender, but he seems like he really watches film and really studies the game. It's been fun to compete against him."
CJ McCollum: "The guy who has really impacted our team the past couple years is (Jonas Valanciunas). He does all the dirty work, the touches aren't always there consistently, his minutes aren't always there consistently, but he's a professional and he's a walking double-double."
New Orleans' starting forwards are just 22 and 19 years old, with a bright future ahead. But All-Star Brandon Ingram and rookie Zion Williamson have been very productive already in first 10 games together, including combining for 63 pts at Lakers. Story:
Herbert Jones was SEC Player of the Year in 2020-21 despite being Alabama's fourth-leading scorer. In summer debut, Jones has 6 pts, 4 reb, 3 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk in only 17 minutes
A smiling Alvin Gentry on New Orleans/Game 3: "The people are locked in and very interested. You'll see the enthusiasm at an all-time high. That's just what we do in New Orleans, we find a way to celebrate, have fun. If it works out, great. If it doesn't work out, we still party"
Jose Alvarado said he told Joel Embiid after they received technical fouls Tuesday that Alvarado couldn’t afford the fine (which is $2,000, per the great

). A grateful Alvarado said today after practice that Embiid “did a generous thing” and paid Alvarado‘a fine
Lonzo Ball on his initial adjustment to New Orleans, the first time he's lived anywhere but California: "It's been pretty easy. The coaches are great, my teammates are cool and the people in town, they love us. So I'm here just trying to do my part."
James Johnson on Lonzo Ball's impact in win at Houston: "You could see what it meant to us. It was a different energy, a different flow of the game. He speeds up the game so much. I thought I was in shape... I've got to get myself in a little better shape running with Zo."
JJ Redick scored 18 pts and dished out 5 ast in Thursday's road win over Chicago, but what most people wanted to talk about afterward was Jaxson Hayes' putback dunk and Redick's memorable reaction:
