I did mention it…said the Kings were going with 4 forwards
@JimFox19 Why no talk about Kempe playing as a d-man the last 10 minutes before the goal was scored? He scored as a d-man.

LA Kings To Honor Trevor Lewis Tonight In Pregame Ceremony LOS ANGELES (February 8, 2025) – Trevor Lewis, who played in his 1,000th regular season NHL game on Jan. 4 vs. Tampa Bay, will be honored tonight prior to the LA Kings’ home game against the Anaheim Ducks at Arena. The on-ice ceremony, which recognizes an official NHL Milestone, will begin at 7:30 p.m. The game will begin after the conclusion of the ceremony, which is hosted by Nick Nickson. In the Kings’ 2-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Jan. 4, Lewis became the first Utah-born skater in NHL history to skate in 1,000 career games. Selected 17th overall by the Kings in the first round of the 2006 NHL Draft, Lewis became just the 13th skater from his draft class to reach the milestone. The native of Salt Lake City, UT, is the 26th skater to reach the 1,000-game mark as a member of the LA Kings, and just the second U.S.-born skater to do so, joining his long-time teammate,Dustin Brown. Since making his NHL debut on Dec. 19, 2008, against the Buffalo Sabres, Lewis has now skated in parts of 14 seasons with the Kings, two with the Calgary Flames, and played one campaign with the Winnipeg Jets. The forward has registered 232 points (101-131=232) in 1,014 regular season contests and added 28 points (13-15=28) in 104 Stanley Cup Playoff games played. The 37-year-old is a two-time Stanley Cup champion, hoisting the Cup as a member of the Kings in 2012 and 2014.
@JimFox19 Hey, Jim - do you know when the ceremony for Trevor Lewis' 1000th game will be? not till the end of season at Flames game or??

Try right at beginning of game!
Hey, @JimFox19! You’ve always been awesome about this, and wondered if you could wish my nephew Tino a happy 6th birthday today during the game. He’s currently celebrating at an ice rink with him friends before watching! Thank you for everything! Go Kings!

BTW, what I didn’t mention was that Dave went back into the same game…as soon as they stitched him up, he was back in!
@JimFox19 That was bah humbug. Also, I don't know that I needed to hear about Dave Taylor's mashed banana fingers while I was eating.

From former NHL official: "For the purpose of this rule, once 43 passes it, he is by NHL definition, no longer in possession of the puck"...Bah Humbug!
@JimFox19 The pass vs. carry differentiation makes sense, as much as anything in the NHL ever makes sense..

That was my 1st impression and understanding...
@JimFox19 Appreciate the explanation, but the way I see it, that definition is not specific on the rule. It only defines 'control', not pass vs carry. Maybe a sub rule does? Besides that, how would pass vs carry over the line affect that play any different if the issue is 'control' 🤷♂️😤

I would say once 43 played it with the backhand of his stick-1 of his skates was still behind the line-From that point on, I believe he WAS in control of the puck...my interpretation!
@JimFox19 saw someone’s explanation that because Moverare passed it/game up control when the puck was still behind the line that is what created the offsides. Not sure if that’s the rule but it would make sense

If he was determined to have control...43 can be over the line before the pass and still be onside...my concern is the "tick" of the puck by TBL 81 with his stick...I still feel 43 had control but that might be the factor? Still hoping to get specs from NHL?
@JimFox19 my take. He did have control, but the pass still came from Outside the zone. Once he makes the pass he no longer has control and is THEN in an offside position after he makes the pass.

Coaches can challenge a goaltender interference situation-Hiller weighed the risk vs reward and did not in that situation-If the challenge is not successful, then a penalty is given-I agree with the decision not to challenge due to how Lewis made contact-Should have been a trip or interference but was not called in real time!
@JimFox19 were we not allowed to challenge the laffy goal?

@JimFox19 Hey Foxy, what's the rule when it comes to reviewing that disallowed goal? Is that something Hiller can look at via challenge? Woulda been nice for us to get the CBJ treatment and get 4-5 min to look at it :)

I agree re the dive by 16 Barkov-But as I mentioned on the air, in real time the ref sees parallel stick into the mid-section and he makes the call-22 did not tug but he got caught.
@JimFox19 Barkiv held on ti Fialas stick then took a dive!! These the same refs as the Chiefs football game??

Not in that type of situation re Toronto! Everything just went against the Kings there! One of the best rush attacks the Kings had all season-I assume because Lewis fell into the goalie (after being tripped and/or interfered with)-it was 61's momentum that got him there-he was not pushed-so Hiller did not challenge-No problem with that decision-Just an extremely unfortunate situation-Should have at least been a penalty against 17 FLA-17's effort against 61 was much more of a penalty than 22 LAK's penalty vs. 16 FLA-Tough tough break against the Kings!
@JimFox19 Hi Jim, I have a question. In cases where the refs totally blow both the goal and penalty calls; can Toronto buzz the arena and tell them the call is overturned? Just curious.
