@Radioblogger It's too bad an imminently qualified candidate (@EdMorrissey) has decamped to Texas. Sadly Davy Crockett's goodbye to Tennessee has happened to Minnesota with Ed's departure.

@AnglianBeer @Frank_Mortimer @paulmasonnews I said perhaps because who knows with Trump. Yes I highly doubt he or even Starmer would send troops but I can't rule it out. Not sending people to die does not make one "unreliable". Giving the island on which an ally has a base away, that is unreliable.

@AnglianBeer @Frank_Mortimer @paulmasonnews Treaties, security agreements, etc. The US, nor the UK, is obligated to send their warriors to Ukraine.

@AnglianBeer @Frank_Mortimer @paulmasonnews Indeed we did. We had agreements with those countries. We have no such agreement with Ukraine.

@Frank_Mortimer @paulmasonnews Ultimately the US cannot make Ukraine do anything, so perhaps "demand" does not really apply. What is in the best interest of the Ukranian people given the current realities?

@Frank_Mortimer @paulmasonnews The US did not guarantee Ukraine's sovereignty in that document. Respect their sovereignty? Yes? Guarantee it, no.

@Frank_Mortimer @paulmasonnews Ukraine's sovereignty is not something I am willing to contribute any non-Ukrainian blood. The presence of NATO personnel, peacekeeper or otherwise, is no guarantee of Ukraine's sovereignty. Ultimately it's up to Putin, like it or not.

@Frank_Mortimer @paulmasonnews Peacekeepers aren't there to fight another country's fight. Surely you do not want any of your countrymen to die for Ukraine.

@Frank_Mortimer @paulmasonnews As peacekeepers? Not keen on that myself, but were Russia to attack again those peacekeepers can be withdrawn. No NATO combat personnel should be fighting for Ukraine.
