today with your kids for a weather lesson from 9-1pm at 20 min past the hour. Today's segment will focus on thunderstorm safety with a special Elmo guest appearance and ingredients for severe later this week.
I got this card today from someone I’ve never even met. When zeta went through the SE we got power back way before our neighbor did & let him run an extension chord to our house to power his fridge. You never know how much a little act of kindness will help someone 😍
So
@NWSAtlanta
has issued tornado and severe tstorm warnings, flash flood warnings, winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings , a freezing fog advisory and flood and flash flood watches not to mention river flood warnings. Wonder if there’s ever been a busier week
The entire timelapse from the

on Lake Blue Ridge in North Georgia from yesterday is worth a watch. Stars streaming across the sky, sunrise, blue fall skies with cirrus reflected in the lake.
So far Corpus Christi has gotten more rain today than they have the entire summer before today. Since June 1st they had only received 1.19" before

today.
I don't think it can be overstated enough that we could have a landfall of a major hurricane in less than 4 days and a lot of people will be caught off guard because its not a named storm yet or even a PTC.
I spoke at my kids college and career day today. While waiting for my turn to speak, I overheard a group of parents discussing how it must be nice to be a meteorologist and be wrong all of them. It was really fun when one of these parents then asked me what I did 10 min later 🙄
Half of my neighborhood got power back 48 hours before the other half and guess what? People with Biden signs in their yard helped people with Trump signs and vice versa. We’re all still neighbors and humans no matter what happens Tuesday.

is going to come awfully close to landfall on cape San blas, which already had Fred and Ida this year, and Michael in 2018. The dune replacement project they did after Michael has already been basically washed away. Video taken last week!
My son received the Sunshine award in his end of the year class zoom today for always bringing a sunny disposition to the classroom everyday...let me tell you that was NOT my experience while home schooling the past 9 weeks.
hello my name is Jessica and I love timelapses from

This one from the Eastern Shore of Virginia shows storms moving in just before sunset. gorgeous shadows from the storm clouds and the hint of a shelf cloud after dark.
Normal person: See's a picture of a

camera caught it: (around 11 seconds just right of center)
Because I'm a big nerd, I've spent my morning drinking coffee and checking

First up, Cumming, GA sunset and northern lights!
Another good example of what the smoke is doing in the across the southeast. This side by side comparison comes from
@EmoryWxSTEM
with a very smoky sunset last night!

Sept 11, 2001: Hurricane Erin was making her way northward in the Atlantic Ocean. Coastal areas along the eastern seaboard were affected by large swells produced by the storm. The inset is smoke in Manhatten, NY.
#wxhistory
Classic spring day across the Southeast. Wedge holding strong leading to chilly temperatures across North GA and into the Carolinas. Does the wedge protect North GA from the worst of the severe threat this week as it often does? Or does it break?
Are we done with U.S. impacts from tropical storms or hurricanes this year? Well, historically, there's less than 20% of the season left:

I love seeing reactions to snacks I’ve left for delivery people...this guy must have seen something good that called him back! Thanks to
