“Without pain, can we know true joy? Without death, can we know life? Without our past, can we know ourselves in the present?” Me grasping at the mystery of unknowns unknowns and trying to find the sacred in a world that denies it.

I don't care that I mean nothing to the universe or anyone in particular because Richard Prince's "Untitled (Cowboy)" exists in the world.

A piece of my own poetry from last year in The Renaissance Garden Guy. I rather like this one (sometimes I surprise myself). It's a good little read for this time of year. https://t.co/qE20a5hZwo

"Under the Blanket" is a brand new poem, and it's here in The Renaissance Garden Guy this week, and it's by me, your old pal John. Cheers!

A good rundown of ever increasing subscription prices coinciding with lower quality. This goes along with @bdomenech and the RedZone commercial critique. https://t.co/UlOAH60kLP

.@PrufrocksBurner in @TheSpectator is profound. What I see is the further embracing of self-god thinking of Silicon Valley, their anointment as Makers of the future and holders of a legacy -- completely borne of modern arrogance, the real devil. https://t.co/R2whnKE1M5

Allow it to be and it will be. The universe is waiting for you.
Want to live a weird American life, be a novelist in LA. Constant fight to tame your material. Constant smoke blown at you by "the industry," which can't figure out why you'd choose such a profession. Incredible solidarity with your few peers, except one is always your enemy.

Via @chasongordon: Keeping up with references or technology or even the so-called norms, will always lose out to having family, friends, community, and some work you mostly like.

I hope there is a true religious homecoming in America. But what would make it lasting would be for it to be not simply a yearning for answers, but a centering around religion because there simply aren't answers sometimes and religion provides a home for mystery and faith.

I think we know next to nothing about the human body and mind. The only thing to really believe in is the mystery of it all.

And this from @bdomenech reinforces the message: "Kirk wasn’t just offering arguments to use in class. He was calling on American citizens to get married, to have kids and to return to the church." We are in the midst of a staggering, awe-inspiring moment. https://t.co/G6WGbEeYpn

This from the editors at @TheSpectator is particularly apt and inspiring. We have to look deep in our souls and determine that now is indeed the time for less explosive political rage and more quiet determination towards faith. Well done. https://t.co/Ef7i5GgLtJ

The culture war has become a spiritual war. A nation built on faith in God has become nihilistic and lost its way.
