One of the greatest honors of my career is to introduce our @fetc keynotes to the audience each day. It is very special to me because a I spend a year selecting and working with speakers, cultivating the content, curating the thoughtful details of each presentation and designing an experience I hope will translate into impacting thousands of schools and students through our global audience. Giving the gift of learning something new is exciting and I look forward to it annually. I selected a quote to share while introducing @GuyKawasaki last month from an 2004 Forbes interview where he stated, "Ideas are easy. Implementation is hard. Keep thinking." Although the context was centered around entrepreneurial design, I immediately saw the parallel connection to #edtech implementation in classrooms and hoped it would inspire our education community. Guy delivered an exceptional presentation and was truly REMARKABLE! Conferences are designed to ignite ideas and conversations that have the greatest impact AFTER the event, when the connections to speakers, partners, district leaders, participants continue the work of implementation year-round. Attendees must "keep thinking" and collaborate to make forward progress with the skills gained at our training to implement new pedagogies, strategies and technologies. Our goal at #FETC is to empower a community with ideas and innovative products to implement the future of education in each school, district or country that they return home to, ultimately improving teaching and learning for every child. I was thrilled to see @tomwhitby 's post of his Future of Education Technology Conference reflections include this powerful quote and open the door to the discussion about the difficulties of implementing technology and the role professional development plays in preparing professionals and students with technology. These are the conversations that need to be sparked to create solutions for continuous improvement.
