Iceland’s population is 350,000. They managed to qualify for the World Cup. Croatia’s is similar to yours they are on the semi final this year. Many teams fail on big stage. I note you asked us to compare ourselves to previous winners. Not Holland, Poland and Belgium for example.

After the fleetwood away defeat, we were 9 points off the play offs, 10 off derby and and 15!!! Off Bolton. Hats off to Ferguson, he ain’t my first choice as manager, due to the repeated sack and employ again, but that’s quite a miraculous turn around in just 9 games.

Clearly his point is that whilst poor tackles go unpunished by the perpetrator that it will continue to happen. Refs have a responsibility to the players on the pitch in all cases. Their inaction can and does cause injury if they are not managing a game correct.

Leeds played the only way to stop us, high press and constant pressure. Only 2/3 L1 teams can play that way, IMO. We were never outclassed but Leeds did their job and showed their quality when it mattered. Only one team was going to win that.
