More to come...
After a week from hell, I went to a baseball game with my dad. I wrote about baseball, family and dealing with the uncertainty that comes when doctors find a tumor in your head
@BroadStBull
yeah because they're mostly white and haven't been victimized or oppressed or treated unfairly or singled out by their president, etc, etc.
If it wasn’t obvious by this thread suddenly stopping,
@jennamargaretta
and I were detained in absurd fashion by police. We were leaving City Hall to go home and were stopped. We showed press badges. “I don’t believe you.” Then they put us in buses. Hi from the 22nd district.
The last thing I'll tweet tonight, besides responding to some of the many messages, is this: When the police bus pulled away from City Hall, someone yelled, "Are you ready kids?" And then the whole bus sang the Spongebob Squarepants song. Goodnight.
Here is one of the nation's largest news networks not understanding how the procedures of a convention work. And we wonder why our electorate continues to be misinformed.
Hey.

... Next week I'm returning to The News Journal/
@delawareonline
as a sports enterprise reporter. I'm anxious to get going again and look forward to telling some cool sports stories in Delaware and beyond. Got one? DMs are always open. Email address in the bio.
Pretty stoked: Next week I’m joining
@PhillyInquirer
as Sports Betting Producer to help facilitate and maximize the reach of a new sports betting partnership. Can’t wait to get started and see what we do. It’s the only place I’ve ever wanted to work, and I’m thrilled to be back.
I’m not sure I have the emotional capacity to respond to each person individually, so let this serve as one large one:
During a rough time, your words of support and encouragement had a large impact on my day in a positive way. You don’t know what that means to me. Thank you.
I’m beyond excited to be joining
@TheBuffaloNews
covering the Sabres/NHL. I’ll be relocating to Buffalo in the coming weeks. Thrilled to get back on a hockey beat in a really cool (cold?) place and to join a really talented team...
Justin Moore spoke to reporters today for the first time since October. The decision to return to game action will be up to Moore and his family, he said. He was a full participant at Villanova practice today
“Marquette and UConn, they win because of talent, they win because of coaching. (Villanova) wins because of incredible culture,” Providence coach Kim English.
Imagine thinking your favorite hockey team's front office failed you because a 60-year-old coach you wanted decided to live in South Florida instead of Philadelphia. (The Panthers also have better young players, too.)
"No organization has enough depth to replace as many guys as weve lost." Expectations changed for the Phillies as injuries mounted. It’s why Gabe Kapler should and will be back in 2020
There was so much wasted breath from Villanova fans about the 2023 class.
Here's the 23-24 roster:
Justin Moore
TJ Bamba
Hakim Hart
Tyler Burton
Eric Dixon
Lance Ware
Mark Armstrong
Jordan Longino
Brendan Hausen
Chris Arcidiacono
Nnanna Njoku
Trey Patterson
Jordann Dumont
Starting a Monday

thread. I’m at police HQ again, where there are hundreds of people, maybe a thousand, here to protest with the Party for Socialism and Liberation.
The better team is gonna win. You can question Thomson’s moves. That’s fine.
But I’ll always remember this playoff run as the city’s baseball rebirth. There were some dead years there after 2012. Yeah, Phillies Twitter was live, but CBP was dead. The last 5 weeks were so fun.
“I think we have the right guy in place to get us where we need to go,” Villanova AD Mark Jackson said.
Villanova remains committed to Kyle Neptune.
Story:
For the record, Joe Biden's favorite coffee shop, BrewHaHa!, is in the same shopping center as a Starbucks in Greenville.
It's owned by a woman who is a granddaughter of DuPont chemists. Very Delaware.
Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
The NFL announced its international “home” teams for next season in Europe. The Chiefs and Patriots are scheduled for Germany.
The
#Eagles
have road games at both opponents so there’s a chance they’ll be in Deutschland this coming season.
Just to clear up the Eric Dixon situation ahead of the portal deadline ...
Eric Dixon will not be entering the transfer portal. His status remains the same as it has been: go pro or return to Villanova. Dixon remains focused on the former.
Eagles defense just had sacks on five of six plays in a move the ball session of 11-on-11. Nakobe Dean with two. Nolan Smith, Moro Ojomo, Bryce Huff with the others.
Erik Reynolds II said he never considered leaving St. Joe's. His announcement Wednesday was "just to clear the air."
Talked with Reynolds about sticking around Hawk Hill:
Played Pebble Beach with my dad today. It was cool and misty, then cool and windy and super sunny. Made a few pars, also carded a 10. It was pretty awesome.
Life news: Next Friday is my last day at The News Journal/Delaware Online. Grateful for my year here and for the way the newsroom took in a sports guy and showed him the news side. Worked with/watched a lot of talented people. But covering sports is why I got in this business...
The loudest player on the Villanova bench never plays. Wrote about Collin O’Toole, Villanova’s lone walk-on, a coach’s son who wants to follow in his father’s footsteps
“It’s nice to know that I have another option and that I’m not stuck, per se, if things don’t necessarily go my way…” Eric Dixon said.
A decision on Dixon’s future is coming soon, and a return to Villanova is certainly possible:
Braden Davis, the son of former Eagle Antone Davis, is a 16-year-old sophomore at Middletown High and a QB with offers from Alabama, NC State, Temple and Texas A&M before he's ever started a game. A look at the kid with the NFL dad and the 4-plus GPA...
Wooga Poplar has committed to Villanova. It's a big get for the Wildcats, who still need another guard but have a guy who can play at both ends.
Story:
“This is a beacon of light for the entire campus,” La Salle AD Ash Puri said. “I hate to be all dramatic, but it really is.”
The construction of the new John Glaser Arena is nearing its completion:
Jay Wright’s life after basketball includes watching a lot of Knicks games, making his son’s JV kids stay too late, and a “freedom of responsibility” of running a major hoops program.
Part one of a two-part Q&A (part two tomorrow):
Hello Kennett Square/Delaware: My parents were taking their new dog, Trooper, a 3-4 year old badly abused rescue, to the vet today. She hopped out and bolted near the corner of Route 1 and 52 toward the woods. She’s not aggressive, just scared. Help plz
The NCAA transfer portal is closed, and only one of the 12 teams in the Big 5 saw the window open and close without losing a player: the St. Joe's women's team.
From Arizona's state coronavirus info: 22% of the state's 4,634 hospitalized are in the 20-44 years old category. 60% of those hospitalized are under 65. It would be interesting to see how things are breaking down in Delaware (state doesn't break ages down) with recent spikes.
Eric Dixon will withdraw from the NBA draft process and return to the Wildcats for his final season of eligibility, sources say.
Things were trending this way over the last few weeks, but Dixon continued with his final pro workouts before deciding.
Roman student section departing. Exchanging words and gestures with the Neumann-Goretti section waiting to take its place behind the basket for the second semifinal. Roman advanced to the final. NG-West Catholic up next.
Lynn Tighe is Villanova's interim athletic director while a search is underway to replace Mark Jackson. Tighe, a 1987 Villanova grad who played basketball, has been working with the athletic department since the 90s.
Have gotten a few emails about this ...
The Big 5 Classic has been renewed and will return to Wells Fargo Center. Details are still being finalized, but expect a formal announcement in the coming days.
We ended up at the same station. Jenna and I were also walking to our exit, quietly and peacefully, within our constitutionally-protected rights. I'm fine, we're all fine. It just doesn't make any sense.
Today, I covered the protests. Tonight, I was arrested for walking to my car past curfew. (Despite having a press exemption and wearing my press pass prominently.) I am ok. More soon.
Heading back to Philly from Buffalo shortly. Yesterday was my last day of Flyers coverage at the Inquirer. Thanks for reading and following along over the last 7 weeks. Had a blast, but
@jackiespiegel93
has you covered from here, starting with tonight vs. the Kings.
The scene outside the Chase Center fortress in Wilmington, where a few hundred people are gathered near where Joe Biden is expected to speak later tonight.
