On January 6, they believed that Trump was leading them and would protect them. Since January 6, they have learned that Trump doesn't care for any of them and that he thinks that they're just gullible suckers who deserved to be exploited. Some will go to prison.

In November 2020, when Trump lied about having won the election, I knew that the purpose of the LIE was to facilitate fundraising and that he would siphon to himself the funds that his fraud produced. He has NEVER had ANY intention of running again and suffering more humiliation.

I didn't read the book, but I do see on television many unvaccinated, sick and hospitalized folks beseeching people to get vaccinated before they share the same fate. Although most Americans have been vaccinated, most of those hospitalized are unvaccinated.

The problem with Mearsheimer's argument is that Putin knew that an invasion of Ukraine would be certain to increase (not decrease) support for the expansion of NATO.
A more plausible, alternative explanation for the invasion is that Putin wants to expand Russia's borders.

Tragic. I just learned of a friend who died this morning of Covid before getting booster. She lived in El Salvador where it can be a bit more difficult to stay fully vaccinated. Guatemala and Honduras are even worse.
We're very lucky here. Get/stay vaccinated.

The defense has shifted from 1) it didn't happen to 2) there is no proof that it happened to 3) if it did happen, the Ukrainians did it to themselves to 4) even if the Russians did it, everybody does it.
One certainty: it wouldn't happen if Putin would stay out of Ukraine.

I remember when I was about that size, the whole community lined up at the high school to get the Salk vaccine. We weren't happy about the prospect of an injection, but we were terrified by the photos of other kids in iron lungs. Our neighborhood had only one childhood death.
