I'd like it we stopped sweating everyone's skin color. And I'm including me in that as I am engaging in this discussion. But I was raised on the idea that we don't select for skin color but for merit, ability, competence. If white people write better country music, it will end up being mostly white. If black people write better rap, same thing. What I don't like is being told something is 'diverse' when it's not and being told it's a good thing when it's just racism in another form.

Maybe I didn't make my point very well. I'm not complaining about the ratio of this or that skin color in whatever group. I really couldn't care less. What I'm saying is that the term 'diversity' is a lie. 30 odd years ago it was sold to me as a good thing because we want a diversity of viewpoints and experiences to better inform our decision making. That sounded fine, made some sense. But 'diversity' has come to mean less whites and 100% leftist viewpoints. That isn't diverse at all. That's what I'm complaining about. I would never want a group rigged to be all white or all black or all yellow. I want a group selected fully on merit not immutable characteristics. And that's what makes me different from the liberals.
