As a former competitive swimmer, I’ve gone against a mix of genders in the same heat before. I’ve lost to cis men and cis women, and I’ve also won over them. It’s more than just hormones and body build. It’s training, endurance, skill, dedication. That’s what sports are about.
i never cry because i'm trans, i cry because of how the world treats me for being trans. i love who i am because of who i am, i just wish everyone else did.
‘American Horror Story: New York City’ takes place in the late 1970’s in NYC, and centers around a group of LGBTQ individuals targeted by a serial killer. It also covers many other themes, including the aids crisis, NYC blackout, and famous NYC serial killers.

my fiancé proposed to me alone on a secluded mountain top because he knew that if he did it in front of people i’d say no just to be funny and cause a huge scene
In light of Naya Rivera’s tragic passing, I took some time to explore the cultural impact her character Santana Lopez made as a lesbian Latina on mainstream television.

My mom just called me because she's scared about what could happen to me as a trans woman living in Texas. She was in tears, while I'm trying to keep my head distracted by work. I love my mother, and the fact that I'm not safe from harm worries her. I wish this world was better.
Since I'll be out the rest of the week for my wedding, my Vox Media fellowship technically ends today. I'm so proud of everything I've accomplished in the last year with the help of my amazing mentors and colleagues! And I can't wait to take on my new role at Eater next week! 🍽
It's my last day at Eater, and I'm so proud of all the work I did in my time here. I wrote about tacos, drag queens, pink sauce, Hot Cheetos and cheese, labor movements, Jill Biden, Top Chef, SXSW, Texas, and San Antonio's incredible dining scene. It's been real, y'all! 🍽❤️
I love how that one guy saw EEAAO and tweeted like, "Overnominalization will be the disestablishment of our society's pseudogrammatical normalization of correct speech, intertransculturalism between semicultural patriarchocapitalist structures, and prefixial decommercialization."
my husband and i were crossing a street in Austin last night and this car ignored the crosswalk light and starting honking at us and we both turned around and started cussing and running at the car together as it sped off. i'm so in love.
Drew Barrymore has released an apology video about resuming production on ‘THE DREW BARRYMORE SHOW’ whilst her writers are fighting for fair pay.
However, she still plans on being a scab by standing by her decision to continue production.
The only things I want in my "in case I go missing binder" are a selection of glamorous photographs approved for media coverage, a pre-written obit, and a list of people not allowed to attend my funeral.
Every day I wake up in a world that does not believe people like me should be allowed to exist. And yet, we do it anyway.
I would rather be my truest self and take on the world than dim my own light as an act of self-preservation. There is no self to preserve if I live a lie.
I wrote a piece about why San Antonio should be considered one of the great food destinations of the world. 🌆📝
This is a love letter to the local dining culture, and an ode to everyone who plays a part in keeping this city fed. 🍽💜
