At the very least, interst should be forgiven. The government shouldn't be getting rich off the backs of students. This interest never should have been allowed.
These fucking idiots saying "nothing happened" at Boulder High School because THIS TIME is was a prank. Children and teachers were traumatized. That ain't "nothing."
I'm begging you, please stop making your characters sigh. I swear, I come to a line in a story with a sigh in it, I'm fucking done. Nobody in real life sighs as much as writers seem to think they do. And that's my rant for today.
Kind of over-the-moon thrilled to let ya'll know that I signed a book deal today with Vine Leaves Press for publication of my collection of flash fiction, "Tender Cuts." Pub date set now for January 2020.
@baddestmamajama
A-freakin'-men to that. I wrote movie for TV from the 80s thru 2004. The decision to green light have always been artibrary and rarely having anything to do with the quality of the script.
Just had my very first poem accepted for publication. So yeah, apparently you can teach an old dog new tricks. Thank you Sledgehammer Lit and Sarah Freligh.
Say what you will about the shithole this place has become, the writing community is still alive, gracious, and kind. I appreciate all the good wishes.
Taking a little break here. Lost Dixie, my heart and soul, yesterday. She battled back mast cell tumors for 3 years. This time she had no more fight in her.
I usually don't post about acceptances, but I just got a poem accepted by The Bluebird Word journal. A FREAKIN' POEM! Me! I tiptoe into this genre with the utmost humility. This comes at a time when my confidence is in the crapper, so yeah. Kind of a BFD.

They’re here. Thank you Whiskey Tit Books for believing in my story. And to Sue William Silverman, Gabrielle Stone, Sonja Livingston, Denna Babul & Jeannine Ouellette for your generosity in providing blurbs.

I keep reading tweets from writers who say they are submitting despite being terrified or just not submitting at all. The worst that can happen is your submission is declined. No one is going to show up at your door and shoot you. You can handle it! Submit!!
A few kind words for "Tender Cuts" from Meg Pokrass, Nancy Stohlman, and one of the founders of the flash fiction genre, Robert Scotellaro. I couldn't be more honored.
So much of the flash I'm seeing amounts to a bucket of metaphors in search of a story. Learn to master the silence. Came across this wise craft piece on writing flash fiction by Cathy Urich.

More vegetables, dear? You don’t really need another biscuit. Easy on the gravy, darling. Pie anyone? No whip cream, honey. I nibble at my allotted portions that are nowhere near sufficient. It’s true. I am large, yet Mother is

After wiping out for the past three years, I made the Flash Flood cut with my story "1967." Super excited to be back in the surf.
It will appear on the FlashFlood journal at around 23:20 (BST) on Saturday, the 26th of June 2021 (National Flash Fiction Day 2021).
Same day acceptance from the stellar Anti-Heroin Chic journal.
@Heroin_Chic_Mag
Thank you, James Diaz. "In the Land of Plenty" will appear in the October issue.
Super thrilled with an acceptance from the stellar SoFloPoJo for their fall issue, especially because it's my first submission of the year. Been taking a bit of a writing break, so this feels very good indeed. Thank you to editor, Francine Witt.
Next week at this time, barring any unforeseen circumstances, I'll be writing and sipping French wines in Bordeaux, France, with Kathy Fish, Nancy Stohlman and some of my favorite women writers of flash fiction. 🍷
When you're writing two stories at once and you realize that the grown woman in one story was the little girl in the other. Hmmm. Let's see where this goes.
Polished and submitted a story from
@kathyfish
Kathy Fish's Fast Flash Reunion this weekend. And received an acceptance from the lovely Foxglove Journal for another story first born in a
@nancystohlman
Nancy Stohlman workshop. Beginning to feel like a writer again. Huzzah!
Hey! We've got news!
Congratulations to
@Jayne_Martin
whose manuscript, “The Daddy Chronicles – Memoir of a Fatherless Daughter,” has been acquired by
@WhiskeyTitBooks
for Spring 2022 publication.
We are super excited about this pairing. Mark those calendars!
So my publisher asked me to write a description of my book today.
"Tender Cuts" publication has been moved up from December to October.
OMG-This is actually a real thing now.
Trying to balance between excitement and full out panic. Panic winning.
Just received a rejection letter literally titled "Rejection Letter" from a publication I have no memory of submitting to, but hey -- they asked that I remember them in the future. LOL!
I think it's perfectly okay for families to lie to their children and tell this that Trudeau is our real president and that crazy orange fucker on television is just a TV show.
It’s okay to feel anxious or stressed. And it’s okay to have tough days. But you need to know that you’re not alone. So if you’re having a tough time, please reach out - to your friends, to your family, or to resources like
@KidsHelpPhone
. And together we’ll get through this.
Woo-hoo! Doing the happy dance on my one healthy foot. Accepted by Flash Flood,"The Elephant Roars." To be pub'd 7:40 a.m. (BST) on the 15th of June 2019.
Have no idea what the fuck is up with Twitter, but this morning I was following 3,800 of you and now I'm only following 128. So if you notice I'm not there anymore, shoot up a flare.
Please don't send hate mail to journal editors. As sucky as it is to receive a rejection, it is also really sucky to have to write them. I truly want to love every submission that I read for The San Franciscan Magazine.
Could not be more thrilled than to be starting off 2024 with an acceptance from Bending Genres for a story written in the
@nancystohlman
November flash challenge. Thank you,
