As a Chinese person, it's ok to still headcanon Fan as Chinese. As long as you acknowledge the fact he used to be a harmful stereotype and don't feed into the stereotype. He is a Chinese hand fan after all, he was intended to be Chinese but was handled wrong.

@l_am_Sen Black representation is scarce in media such as anime. If people want to "blackwash" an Asian character they should at least keep them half-Asian or elements of Asian culture in the design so it's adding instead of erasing. Whitewashing characters no matter what isn't cool.

@cupcakestreets We should normalize making character designs that aren't extremely outstanding or complicated. Sometimes simplicity is a breath of fresh air, which in of itself could make a simple design stand out among numerous complex designs in a cast.
