My friend has seen House of the Dragon season 2 episode 7 and told me most of what happens in it so I decided to make a separate account to tell those of you who want to know what happens in it. If this thread gains too much traction, I might take it down just in case.
The episode ends with Rhaenyra walking out of the dragonpit with Baela, her new dragonseeds and her queenguard following her. She is ready for actual war.
On Dragonstone, Corlys finds Jace before he can leave for Harrenhal to get Daemon. They agree that Rhaenyra is making too many mistakes and that the two of them might need to conspire together against her if it comes to it.
Episode 7 opens with the scene where Rhaenyra confronts Addam. She is being very hostile toward him while he tries to explain that Seasmoke came after him. She asks him if he has Targaryen ancestry and he tells her that he doesn't. This changes everything for her.
The winter wolves arrive at the Twins, where they are given passage. Cregan Stark is marching with them. An army is finally coming together in Harrenhal. Daemon is overseeing it. He speaks to Alys, who tries to make a move on him.
On Dragonstone, people are arriving to try to claim dragons. Jace takes notice of it and goes to confront Rhaenyra about it. Jace thinks it's foolish to give anyone a chance for many reasons. They have an explosive argument where they both say extremely hurtful
Rhaenyra gathers the people who have come to Dragonstone and summons Vermithor. She explains the risks to them. However, multiple people fail. When it's Hugh's turn, he succeeds, proving Rhaenyra right.
Corlys arrives back at Dragonstone and is informed about Rhaenyra's plans. He disagrees and thinks it's a bad idea to let just anyone claim these dragons.
Rhaenyra's forces.
At Harrenhal, Daemon has a vision of himself sitting on the throne. He starts arguing with himself and realizes that he never wanted the throne. When he wakes up, Oscar Tully has arrived at Harrenhal. Daemon goes to greet him.
Rhaena is being escorted from the Vale and toward the Gay Abandon alongside Aegon and Viserys when she hears Sheepstealer. She walks toward the sound and stumbles upon him. She then proceeds to claim him.
At the small council, Aemond is pissed about the riots. They know it was Rhaenyra's plan. Aemond wants to end the war as quickly as possible. They have received a raven telling them that Daeron has taken his first flight on Tessarion. This means that he can be useful against
At Dragonstone, Rhaenyra speaks to Mysaria about Addam. She is desperate for dragonriders. They send Elinda to hang up posters in King's Landing calling for anyone who dares to try to claim a dragon. Because of Addam, Rhaenyra is now under the belief that you don't need
They both fly to Dragonstone. Jace sees them arrive. He tries to confront Rhaenyra about leaving and asks who Addam is, but Rhaenyra snaps at him and leaves him hanging.
Aemond rides out to meet with the Lannister army. Alicent puts on a white dress. She watches Aegon and then Helaena from outside their rooms. She then goes out to a lake and tries to drown herself.
People in King's Landing take notice of the posters. Hugh and Ulf are among them. Hugh's wife is against it, but he talks her into going to Dragonstone. The people of King's Landing find ways to sneak out with Elina and Mysaria's accomplices's help.
In King's Landing, Alicent is reeling from the riots. She complains to Larys that everything she has done and every sacrifice she has made being for nothing.
betray her and calls her stupid. Their argument escalates. They bring up everything they have argued about thus far this season and even bring up Luke. It's when Rhaenyra uses his bastardy to justify her plan that he storms off. This argument is what leads to Jace and
To clarify, during their argument it is made clear that Jace's idea was to find nobles with Targaryen ancestry who would be loyal to Rhaenyra to ride their dragons. Rhaenyra's plan is to let just about anyone who wants try. Jace believes it's dangerous because they will likely

Aemond is at his best in episode 7. He is truly becoming book Aemond. The scene where he burns a whole village is both horrifying and epic and I do think it will be one of the best and most shocking scenes in House of the Dragon yet
Corlys conspiring together. They agree that Rhaenyra is out of her mind and they plan to make choices and act without her knowledge, but to pretend that they are on her side
Apparently Aegon pretends to be sleeping because he opens his eye when Aemond isn't looking. He knows what Aemond is doing so he will probably pretend his plans are working
Aemond rides out to meet with the Lannister army. Alicent puts on a white dress. She watches Aegon and then Helaena from outside their rooms. She then goes out to a lake and tries to drown herself.
Before Aemond rides out to meet the Lannister army, he takes Vhagar and burns a bunch of Rhaenyra loyalists as a reaction to the riots. He then rides on horseback to meet with the Lannisters

Since people are freaking out over Rhaenyra and Jace's fight- it's not as bad as it seems. Jace confronts her for leaving in episode 6 and trusting Mysaria over him. She calls him out for doubting her. He calls her out on her plan to let just anyone lay claim to their dragons.
On Dragonstone, people are arriving to try to claim dragons. Jace takes notice of it and goes to confront Rhaenyra about it. Jace thinks it's foolish to give anyone a chance for many reasons. They have an explosive argument where they both say extremely hurtful
During their talk, Jace mentions that he thinks he would make a better King than Rhaenyra a Queen. It caught me a bit off guard to be honest. I don't think they plan to usurp her though
Corlys arrives back at Dragonstone and is informed about Rhaenyra's plans. He disagrees and thinks it's a bad idea to let just anyone claim these dragons.
I do think the change in Rhaenyra and Jace's dynamic is to parallell Alicent and Aemond's. The writers also probably thought Rhaenyra's relationships with all her sons being wholesome and unproblematic would be repetitive and stale, so they added some conflict as to

However, I do think Rhaenyra and Jace's relationship is forever fractured after their argument. He basically tells Corlys that he has no faith in her anymore and that the only way she can reclaim and keep her throne is if they make the important decisions without her.
I think that's it with the spoilers I want to give. When I heard about all the changes I knew people would get angry so I wanted to ease you guys into them. Most of them make sense to me. I will probably private my account later today because of how much traction that
of dragons and more likely than nobles to betray them. She tells him not to forget that he is also a bastard and that if she didn't pass him off as legitimate, he would be one of them and should relate to them and give them the benefit of the doubt. He storms off and she
The scene where Rhaena claims Sheepstealer is said to be extremely good. However, she does not feed him sheep like Nettles does in the book. How she claims him is different

@childrenscarem1
You don't have to believe me. Just wait for the episode to drop. I just made the thread because I kind of like the changes, but wanted to warn the fandom before they start harassing the writers on Sunday. But just wait for the episode and then see it for yourself🙂
realizes that she went too far and yells at him not to leave. That's basically how my friend described the fight word for word. Do with that information what you will, but it is far from as bad as you guys make it
To clarify, Rhaenyra doesn't bring up his bastardy to justify her actions with the Dragonseeds. She brings it up as a reaction to Jace's distrust in bastards and commoners. She basically does call him a bastard indirectly and tells him he could've been one of them if
betray her and calls her stupid. Their argument escalates. They bring up everything they have argued about thus far this season and even bring up Luke. It's when Rhaenyra uses his bastardy to justify her plan that he storms off. This argument is what leads to Jace and
So the scene is basically Ulf wandering around and singing while drunk and he happens upon Silverwing. He is too drunk to notice and starts climbing on top of her believing she's a horse. When they take off, he comes to his senses and it's hilarious
By the way, Jace says some terrible stuff to Rhaenyra as well. There is a reason she basically calls him a bastard. I don't think you're supposed to pick a side in the argument. The war is driving everyone apart. That is the point
I don't think they are planning to usurp Rhaenyra. They just disagree with basically every choice she makes and decide to do stuff related to the war without consulting her while they pretend like nothing
Corlys arrives back at Dragonstone and is informed about Rhaenyra's plans. He disagrees and thinks it's a bad idea to let just anyone claim these dragons.
I think they want the show to be more about how terrible monarchies are and how all the potential rulers would be terrible for the smallfolk and Westeros more than misogyny. It seems like that's where they are taking the story. This especially becomes clear in episode 7

They are basically planning to make decisions regarding Rhaenyra's armies, warfare and other politics without consulting Rhaenyra and without her knowledge. And when they eventually take King's Landing, they plan to basically govern for her without her knowledge
@LouiseFinlay11
She doesn't try to kiss him, but she is flirting with him and touching him basically. He leans into it at first, but they get interrupted
Baela doesn't have much screentime this episode, but she is helping Rhaenyra with the Dragonseeds at the end and will obviously continue to support her
Sheepstealer is aggressive at first, but she manages to tame him. The scene is said to be very similar to the scene where Aemond claims Vhagar in season 1. However, we do not see their first flight unfortunately. It is still a good scene though.
Rhaena is being escorted from the Vale and toward the Gay Abandon alongside Aegon and Viserys when she hears Sheepstealer. She walks toward the sound and stumbles upon him. She then proceeds to claim him.
I think people are blowing things out of proportions. These changes are not as bad as you guys think. I think they will make more sense when you all see the episode for yourselves. Just remember that the showrunners have different views and interpretations than you.
This storyline is probably building up to his death. They will probably have Rhaenyra go mad because she regrets driving him away and turning him against her. It's different from the book, but it does make sense. This is what my friend thinks as well
I don't think they are planning to usurp Rhaenyra. They just disagree with basically every choice she makes and decide to do stuff related to the war without consulting her while they pretend like nothing
The reason he goes to meet the Lannisters on horseback instead of on Vhagar is because the village he burns isn't far away and taking Vhagar to intimidate the Lannisters, his allies, isn't the smart thing to do
Before Aemond rides out to meet the Lannister army, he takes Vhagar and burns a bunch of Rhaenyra loyalists as a reaction to the riots. He then rides on horseback to meet with the Lannisters
@greenball3099
His first scene is him seeing himself on the Iron Throne with Viserys's crown. He tells himself that he should take the throne for himself. Daemon argues against himself and is then presented with adult Rhaenyra who asks him if he will betray her and he tells her he will not
@DudaPWW
She protected them from others because they can't know. Rhaenyra and Jace know that he is a bastard so her reminding him because he has developed a superiority complex isn't. He should know better than to look down on bastards simply because of their birth
He says they should keep looking for nobles with Targaryen ancestry, but she says it will take too long. He calls her out on stalling and asks her if she even cared about Luke. She gets extremely hurt by the remark. Jace says that the smallfolk and bastards are undeserving
My friend cried during this scene and the scene where she watches Aegon and Helaena from afar building up to it. It makes her very sympathetic. My friend used to dislike her, but episode 6 and 7 made them change their mind
My friend has seen House of the Dragon season 2 episode 7 and told me most of what happens in it so I decided to make a separate account to tell those of you who want to know what happens in it. If this thread gains too much traction, I might take it down just in case.
I also think they are moving away from having it be Team Black vs Team Green. Everyone has their own agenda. Aemond is not Team Green- he is team himself. Rhaenyra wants her throne, but Jace and Corlys have their own agenda. Alicent is team no one. They will all wreak havoc
At Dragonstone, Rhaenyra speaks to Mysaria about Addam. She is desperate for dragonriders. They send Elinda to hang up posters in King's Landing calling for anyone who dares to try to claim a dragon. Because of Addam, Rhaenyra is now under the belief that you don't need
because they don't trust her to make decisions and to be able to keep her power. So they basically plan to be the true regents calling the shots while she is under the impression that she is the one in charge and they stand with her
Wow, that thread really blew up. I might go private later today so follow me if you want to ask me questions or something. I don't want to get in trouble to be honest.
I don't think Rhaenyra is as dumb as people say. She is just desperate for dragonriders and desperation makes people do stupid things. She has good intentions. She has been driven insane by her council and son and she doesn't want to take their disrespect anymore
Episode 7 opens with the scene where Rhaenyra confronts Addam. She is being very hostile toward him while he tries to explain that Seasmoke came after him. She asks him if he has Targaryen ancestry and he tells her that he doesn't. This changes everything for her.

@townreject
@WtDasoiaf
He doesn't go. He begins plotting with Corlys instead. He was just planning to. Rhaenyra probably goes there herself in episode 8
@pettipali
I think they are setting up for their relationship to crumple before he dies so she goes mad with grief and regret. I think that is where the show is going with their dynamic
@sapphireseastar
I think they will have scenes in the finale. Aemond does mention needing Helaena's help if he wants to win the war because of her prophetic dreams
Basically, watch the episode before you judge either of them and don't jump to conclusions. I think more people wil end up siding with Rhaenyra after Jace's scene with Corlys
@SimonIzzyluv
I don't think this ruins his character though. He just thinks Rhaenyra is making too many mistakes and takes the war and the governing into his own hands because he sees it as the right thing to do. But I do see how a lot of the watchers might turn against him
Aemond is planning his next move. It's a short scene of him looking over the city. His next scene in the episode is where he burns Rhaenyra's followers.
@HotdGot58476
Vermithor burns a bunch of people, but not Silverwing. The scene with Vermithor is epic and violent. The scene where Ulf claims Silverwing is funny and it's purely unintentional on his part
I don't think the episode sounds bad to be honest. My friend who watched it loved it and said it was better than episode 4. The Vermithor scene and the scene where Aemond burns Rhaenyra's loyalists is apparently two of the best scenes of the entire show. Sheepstealer's design
thread got. I didn't think it would blow up like this and now I'm starting to get a little nervous someone from hbo will see it. Please follow me if you want to continue to see my posts😉
Basically, since Addam has no Targaryen ancestry like she asks and he doesn't mention he's a Velaryon bastard and because of how he claimed Seasmoke, Rhaenyra comes to the conclusion that only Targaryens and Valyrians being able to tame dragons is Targaryen propaganda
Episode 7 opens with the scene where Rhaenyra confronts Addam. She is being very hostile toward him while he tries to explain that Seasmoke came after him. She asks him if he has Targaryen ancestry and he tells her that he doesn't. This changes everything for her.
I think it makes sense that the Targaryens lied to make themselves seem morr important than they actually are. I don't mind this change. I know a lot of book readers will hate it though. But the book and show are clearly separate things
@LouiseFinlay11
Alys is a mystery. No one knows her intentions. She is only on her own side and I believe she will end up being both Daemon and Aemond's undoing
and that anyone can claim a dragon if the dragon accepts and chooses them. She is proven right because it's revealed that Ulf doesn't have Valyrian ancestry at all. He says himself that he lied when he's drunk and stumbles upon Silverwing.
