@ktaylor @JosiahParry @rushworth_a I see this "R sucks!" narrative often at work, folks that don't want to use "an inferior language for data science" [real words spoken to me at work after someone on another team learned that R was my lang of choice šā°ļø]. It's sad!

@JosiahParry You have a few affordable-ish options on the low end of "prosumer" goods scale, but the DiFluid R2 Extract is the one I've had my eye on for measuring TDS, acidity, and a few other niceties (not caffeine as that's less intuitive / more involved):

@JosiahParry I'm seeing this unfold in real time and have friends seeing the same at their companies. We definitely need a place where CS/software engineers and traditional data scientists/ML researchers coexist, but one group's best practices can be wildly different from the other's.

@mim_djo @tcarpenter216 Agreed about DuckDB for ETL... Check out the Arrow package and/or DuckDB (or even duckplyr if you're just looking for a dplyr equivalent).
