The next evolution of product development isn't about prettier interfaces or better APIs - it's about building for AI agents. - Current APIs were built for human comprehension, not machine efficiency - Web interfaces are visual-first, making them challenging for AI agents - Why we need open web standards for agent-to-agent interaction - The critical gap between how machines and humans process information - Why @biilmann believes AX standardization is the next big challenge Want to shape this future? Right now, AI systems are forced to consume web pages designed for human consumption—introducing unnecessary complexity and inefficiencies. But what if we optimized web interactions for both humans and agents?

Agent experience brings not only a new focus for tech, but also new skillsets for our teams. It will be one thing to casually provide a usable AX but it will be another thing to have a truly optimal one. Complete with specialized skills and tools. What an opportunity ahead

@ken_wheeler @cramforce @rauchg 100% but the point being there’s more at play here than simple generation of utility experiences that we can shuv into a box.

@ken_wheeler @cramforce @rauchg I hear you and believe that almost everything that can be boiled down to do this will be at risk of that. But I believe it to be a fraction of the web. We have to ack the economic anns sociological incentives for all of the parts at play.

@ken_wheeler @cramforce @rauchg Nah, it can/will get way worse without steering to better horizons. Generative bs content is one thing. Generative bs experiences are another thing.

@ken_wheeler @cramforce @rauchg This is a start of that naming the problem we have to solve for. I’ll share some more stuff soon on how I’m seeing the opportunity for the web itself to improve

@ken_wheeler @cramforce @rauchg And if you think brands, businesses, and sites will want to give up their access to customers, presentation, voice, etc. I would not bet on that at all.

If you think AI and agents are powerful now, wait until we start properly enabling their adoption across systems and the web.

New article in thread: agent experience (AX). Agents now interact with our products autonomously, build with our platforms and consume our content and experiences on the web and beyond. We all need to consider how to craft our product experiences specifically for AI agents.
