The Packers don’t need to trade for a WR. They’re broken right now, week 6 aside. A vet WR isn’t going to fix much. The biggest broken piece is the QB who won’t fully immerse himself into the offense and the culture created by the head coach and team who continued to center
Well shit,
#49ers
, it’s almost like you have to actually score some points and not count on historically bad special teams to slide you to a championship game
I know Favre isn’t a popular name but today marks 20 years since his Dad passed. Tomorrow is the anniversary of the Raiders MNF game. The most surreal football game I’ve ever watched
Lotta Joe Barry discourse, as usual after any loss but let’s talk about the HC. He hired and kept Barry. Year 5 and he’s still letting a play clock expire on a FG try? Let’s talk about that. It all starts at the top
My Dad wore this jersey every game day until he passed in 2015. It’s in its usual spot this weekend to honor
@CharlesWoodson
. Congrats on a phenomenal career and well-deserved entry to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
#GoPackGo
The Dolphins are in full-time preseason mode. Jets players are unfollowing the team. The Bills are. . well, the Bills. But tell me again how New England has to "grind" their way through every season?
I’ve been intentionally quiet this week (you’re welcome) and digesting the conversation around Rodgers. My biggest takeaway: most of us are Packers fans and would rather see the team win, regardless of anything else. The end
themselves around the QB. On paper, it looks like they made the right call at the time with Rodgers winning back to back MVP. In reality, it looks like time has run out. Not getting it done these past 2 was the final failure and the proverbial window is closed
Brian Gutekunst is in a tough spot, he has so much tied up in 1st rounders on this defense and they are absolute dog 💩. Yes, the DC is awful and gotta go but these dudes make NO plays. It's a constant rebuild/overhaul on that side of the ball and
It was, by all accounts and definitions of the word, a choke job. You’re up 19-7 with 5 to play, you showed up and outplayed the opponent to that point. The previous narrative, odds or expectations are way out the window. Easily one of the worst losses in franchise history
John Kuhn just made a great point on the radio:
In 2014, no one gave the
#Packers
a chance to go into Seattle with an injured QB and win the NFCCG.
The fact that it was close beat all odds.
But people still want to call it a choke job.
Can anyone who has posted about the kicker please explain to me in X/O terms why the 2 dropped picks and the absolutely ASS 3rd down miss late weren't probably bigger issues? DM's are open if you're shy
Ok so...
#Bears
“beat” the
#Packers
by signing Fuller, A Rob, trading for Mack and winning NFC North. Their season lasted 7 days, 3 hours longer than Green Bay’s. And no 1’s in this draft.
#winning
?
Before his NFL story is fully written, Rashan Gary is going to make an iconic play for this team that will never be forgotten. Maybe several but I can’t wait for this dude to absolutely wreck another team’s season soon. Because it’s happening
While all of the panic about the
#Packers
WR’s for tonight’s game, let me remind you that ATL is without their top 3 safeties and have very unproven corners. Oh, and GB’s QB? Aaron Rodgers
@BookOfEli_NFL
Eli, people have died over Epstein, their families have died. Young kids’ lives have been ruined, some committed suicide. Aaron doesn’t care about you. Or me. He doesn’t know who you are or whether you’re supporting or slamming on him. All he cares about is shock value
Today's lesson:
Resign - to voluntarily quit or retire
Re-sign - to renew a contract or agreement or recreate your signature on a previously signed document
Thank you
and demand more from each other. We can blame the GM and coaching all day and it’s warranted, but the jerseys with numbers determine what the ball actually does on game day. Lots to figure out
A lot of talk about HC candidates in Green Bay and I don't believe Joe Philbin is among them but he returned this year to a place that holds some really bad memories and tried to help this franchise regain its way. It didn't go well, but Joe is a stand up guy. Cheers
I may get ratio'd or whatever other bad things happen on this website for this but
Bakh is still in the building. His voice, presence, wit, all of it - is still around the team. No, they don't have their elite LT in uniform, but he's not gone. There's still an impact he can have
3 years, 8 months, 12 days since the pandemic forced me to pivot career. Today, I’m re-entering the industry that I love, that I grew up in. Today is a good day! Never stop grinding! Happy Friday!
I'll ask everyone, and be honest, when WAS the last time any team didn't want to/was afraid to play at Lambeau? It's been years, it was just louder on this day
i hope everyone was able to hear that “let’s go lions” chant at lambeau just now. not a single team in this league is scared to play in green bay anymore
I’ve been trying to think of a tweet’s worth of words for Bart Starr and one simply isn’t enough. An incredible man who was what all Green Bay Packers players should want to be, both on and off the field. Rest In Peace, Bart and condolences to the Starr family
if Rodgers is the QB running MLF offense, which is to say, his own way and outside the needed structure. That reality becomes more firmly cemented after watching how absolutely disgusting this team, with these players, can actually be on the field. There’s a lot of development
Jon Runyan said he was never shown the NFL's video emphasizing what they'll call on sneak alignment offensively. It was sent to every team by the league. The Packers, more specifically Matt LaFleur, have to make sure their players see these and understand it. That's coaching
I’ve said it’s time for a new DC in Green Bay for years. That said, several families are about to search for a new home after 9 years. Put yourself in those shoes for a minute
on it that says he is going to outperform what he’s done before. GB has HEAVILY invested in the defense but we’re not seeing the needle move. They’re not playing 4 quarters so is that working? Seems less than ideal. Ultimately, these players need to step up and play. Step up
that is needed with these year 1/2 players, including key pass catchers who aren’t what the QB is used to. They kept it in house with promoting Steno, Butkus - the Packer way and we were for it. Is it working? We’ll see. They went outside for Barry, whose resume has nothing
The term "blueprint" to beating the Packers this season doesn't exist. Matt LaFleur and staff morph this team into what it needs to be each week to win. Can't blueprint that.
Still, Packers D has to stop giving up big plays like they have the last few games
We've obviously seen a ton of discourse on Joe Barry. It's become the popular take. At this point, if you're going to demand that Barry be replaced I also want your comprehensive take on the offensive staff as well. I argue that that side of the ball has ended the last 2 seasons
@ByRyanWood
Ryan, brother, first of all, I appreciate the work you do, I really do. Secondly, you gotta be watching the game if you're gonna tweet during it. Reed literally had the ball in his hands and the S took it away. You'll have to explain the science here
Packers fans actually hoping the Cardinals come through somehow vs Seattle, don’t. Yes they’ve had success there before but nearly 30 years here has taught me this franchise will, repeat WILL find a new way to disappoint. They are the best at being the worst
This is pathetic by the HC. A terrible look by a man who should already be looking critically at himself and his process. Instead, he's saying "we good". That's insulting to me. I own a TV and watch this every week. It ain't us that suck here, coach. Try again
Matt LaFleur said it's baffling, comical and people expose themselves -- all his exact words -- when people critique the Packers for having "two down linemen" defending the run in nickel because OLBs in nickel are defensive ends and therefore, are down linemen.
Montgomery needed to go, good move by the Packers. But what does it say about the coaching staff, specifically McCarthy, that a 4th-year veteran who's played a lot of snaps is frustrated about not knowing what their role is? Communication has long been an issue on MM's watch
If you're still putting these bad performances on the defense/Barry without STARTING with the offense, we do not agree. The issues are so much deeper than just Joe Barry and the defense - which gave up less than 20 points AGAIN
@IKE_Packers
@packers
Who is in charge of pushing send over there? Learn your history, then tweet. This type of engagement - isn’t the type you should be after
If the Packers want to put out the optics of accountability and a new era (Montgomery, Whitehead) they have to let Zook go first after next week’s game, no?
Tramon Williams on ugly loss ending
#Packers
' season: "I've mentioned this to a couple guys that if I went down with any team, it would be this team. Obviously it was disappointing like I said. But I was in the colors that I would rather go down in, and that's green and gold...
Packers fans actually hoping the Cardinals come through somehow vs Seattle, don’t. Yes they’ve had success there before but nearly 30 years here has taught me this franchise will, repeat WILL find a new way to disappoint. They are the best at being the worst
Ty Montgomery declined to speak to the media or the team didn't make him available. Either avenue is hot garbage. There's a lack of character and accountability in Green Bay with that move. A bad look after a bad loss
This game, and it matters zero how the last 4 games go, firmly ends any LaFlower for COY talk. He refuses to grow up and mature like a 5th year HC should
Packers will travel to New Orleans and San Francisco in 2020. Hopefully the NFL places one of those match up's in week 1 before either of them realize how good they are
Since late August, I’ve lost 2 family members, 2 friends to illness (same family, age 45 and 39) and a colleague to a tragic murder. I’ve never been so appreciative of the good around me. Hug your family and friends when you can - and take care of each other 💚💛
Never noticed Kuhn was the first one there to greet Cobb in the end zone. . from underneath Julius freaking Peppers who he just blocked to allow this play to even develop!!!
#Kuuuuuuhn
On one of the FG Carlson DID make, the snap was bad, the hold was late and he still made it. We always blame the kicker but in that many red zone visits, in the playoffs, against the 1 seed, on the road, you need TD's - a tale as old as time
This thread was incredible and motivated me to go to that same spot tonight where I watched that game with my late Dad and my brother and good friend. Thanks, everyone! Happy holidays and cheers!
I know Favre isn’t a popular name but today marks 20 years since his Dad passed. Tomorrow is the anniversary of the Raiders MNF game. The most surreal football game I’ve ever watched
My idea, and I’m spitballing here, would be to get the defense together 3-4 times/week before the games and go through the plan for that week, on a field similar to the one they play on, at full speed. Like a rehearsal of sorts. I sound crazy, don’t I?
#Packers
DC Joe Barry on trying to find consistency with his defense: "When we consistently play with 11 guys as one, we've proven we can play with anybody in this league. When one guy's off, when another guy's off, it kills you."
ESPN has the
#Packers
ranked as the 29th quarterback unit, 29th wide receiver unit and 26th tight end unit. That is way too low, especially with a starting quarterback that is full of poise and wideouts that continue to raise eyebrows.
@BruceIronsNFL
Maybe, but this is assuming the quarterback doesn’t continue the trend of being average in the biggest games and squandering the better protection. It’s far from a forgone conclusion
I'll say this: I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed at one time. I was swollen and sore for about 10 days, in some capacity, and I wasn't getting hit anywhere near my head let alone my actual mouth. Worry not, brethren
@BruceIronsNFL
This is a good point, with the number of former Packers who end up in MN, this discussion is a really bad look for anyone trying to have it
The
#Vikings
have scheduled to interview Rex Ryan for the Head Coach position on Monday, per sources. Rex has expressed a strong interest in returning to the NFL.
Conspiracy theory of the day: Packers know Fuller not worth what they offered him. WANT him on Bears roster, know they can throw on him. Sign him, force Bears to overpay and still beat that ass twice a year for the next 3-5
Caller on G&G Postgame show legit said "worst 13 win team, we don't deserve the playoffs, should just forfeit"
Did these same dipshits remember to not celebrate the trophy in 2010? Did THAT team deserve ANYTHING before playoffs started?
Friendly reminder:
Raiders are no longer in LA or Oakland
Chargers are no longer in San Diego
Rams are no longer in St. Louis
Bears ARE still owned by Aaron Rodgers and still, indeed, do suck
This is unacceptable. I know he wants to play and Packers docs are conservative but it’s football. He’s useless in sweats every week. Packers have to figure this out this offseason
Christian Watson is INACTIVE. Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks are good to go.
Full inactive list:
WR Christian Watson
RB AJ Dillon
LB Brenton Cox Jr.
LB Isaiah McDuffie
T Caleb Jones
WR Grant DuBose
New rule: If you're going to post Bakhtiari trade thoughts, you have to explain what is being sent to GB in said deal.
For example (randomly, of course): "The Jets would send x to the Packer for Bakh". Otherwise you think sports are video games and please just stick to those
@Peter_Bukowski
How much of LaFleur saying that was him taking/deflecting blame away from a young QB who (understandably) missed throws, threw up at least 3 “go get it” balls, and still had a decent run game to help him? The plan seemed fine. The execution not as much
Sometimes moments make you realize how you really feel about something. Tonight I realized (again) how grateful I am for what Aaron did for the Packers and also that this season won’t be as much fun. That’s all I got
#Packers
QB Aaron Rodgers: "You guys like telling us how we're just kind of an average team that knows how to win. But the key point is the 'win' part, because right now we're two wins from the Super Bowl, and we know for sure the first one's gonna be here."
@BruceIronsNFL
There is no coaching on ST. Send Drayton packing, apologize to him for giving him a job he can’t handle in the first place and just let the players run around at practice in their own. Save the $ - they don’t care about special teams
