@jac_siuhaj @lescoggi Yes, I would much prefer induction for several reasons, but it does kind of suck in Japan because electricity is often effectively more expensive than gas. At least built-ins have 200v/240v options in the US/Japan (though maybe not 400v like the commercial european ones)

@mishmashtan Yeah, hip carrying a child is very different than hip carrying rice because the kid has actively engaged legs and arms. But it yields the same problems as you experienced carrying a bag. Front carrying is best, back carrying maybe second best.

@mishmashtan The actual point is more that carrying a child is mostly about engaging abdominal muscles. If you are holding 5kg in a shopping bag and one arm it's a lot more difficult than a front carrier (unless you've got a balanced load, but even then)

@LupineLumen Why are you asking the Seattle police about an incident in a completely different city?

@evadne @HaloedPayload Oh, if that's an option I'm surprised they didn't already do so to avoid it rotting in the hallway (though I don't know what the norms are, as in Japan buildings with anything more than "guy who makes sure the trash is out on time and coordinates security and cleaning" is rare)

@Jessecooksfood He has long known there are no consequences for anything he says, so I can't see him stopping. He should just start talking about how we're cooperating with the space aliens during their glorious colonization of earth (greatest ever, I'll tell ya) because why not

@evadne @HaloedPayload I think we had failed to cancel an automatic weekly delivery once and panicked when we went out of town… at least then a family member could pick it up.

@winterwoman112 @davidrmunson @savvykenya I tend to agree with this. If you've been sent a formal wedding announcement or invitation, the registry is probably the best place to start, but if you are only casually acquainted "hey I'm getting married" colleagues or "friends" then something modest but useful/decorative.

@Struan_Tokyo Another option may simply be a lockbox. For my bakery, vendors open a lockbox to fetch a key and even put things in the shop refrigerator. Not sure if regular shipping companies would do something like that though.
