Sometimes, a person who likes my more serious work will find my silly poems/posts a bit jarring. I sympathize, but I also wonder if those folks have considered the inherent up-dog of such pieces.

I plucked up an acorn, thinking I would find a place to plant it. Not by the road. Not in the mowed field by the cemetery. Not in a stranger's lawn. There's something about an errand to plant an oak that shows what troubles our world, a place where a new tree is inconvenient.
