Celebrating with the @smallbizbritain team as one of the business mentors at the graduation reception for the recent Small & Mighty Programme cohort at the @UKHouseofLords last Tuesday, gave me pause to reflect on my mentoring activity in 2024. The most consistently requested topics for discussion were: 💡business growth 💡marketing 💡personal branding 💡sales 💡productivity 💡time management 💡overwhelm & managing stress 💡imposter syndrome & confidence Fellow mentors reading this'll know there’s so much that can be covered in mentoring sessions. The more personal / human / mindset topics (the 2nd half of the list) being very much linked to wellbeing / resilience building are just as vital to work on as direct business topics as they influence a business owner's / business leader's ability to perform at their best to drive optimal business success. Reflecting reminded me of the findings from the recent excellent research report on the impact of professional business mentoring undertaken by the @AssocBizMentors. What an evening. 🙌 Wednesday was the 30th anniversary of my graduation from @RoyalHolloway and as chance would have it I had the immense honour to be invited to attend the @LondonU 2024 Foundation Day at Senate House in London. Awesome to see the iconic building so beautifully lit. This event, 'Foundation Day', is a landmark date of the annual calendar, marking the first royal charter that was granted in 1836 by William IV and is the occasion to confer honorary degrees and fellowships. It was a most inspiring evening hearing the public service done by those being awarded on the evening and the stories from the guests too. There truly is amazing work being done. Congratulations to all 5 awardees: Dr. Nahim Ahmed MBE, Professor Sir Michael Arthur, Tony Neoh, Abdul Bhanji, and Her Majesty The Queen who was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Literature in recognition of her promotion of literacy and literature by the University of London Chancellor, The Princess Royal. As proud alumna and Chair of the International Advisory Board at the @RHULManagement , supporting @tsinopoulos Executive Dean and team, the evening offered the opportunity for continued discussions on our work to bring business and academia closer together.
