@tjiliff3 @wexit2usa A minority may pursue faster elective procedures there, but it doesn’t reflect the quality of our system. They are just impatient and wealthy enough to afford it. While millions of Americans skip treatment entirely due to cost.

@tjiliff3 @wexit2usa This is a baseless assumption. I prefer not having to worry about breaking the bank when something goes wrong. This does not encourage laziness nor is it freeloading.

@tjiliff3 @wexit2usa High tax is better than a second mortgage which you would be paying if you got unlucky. You’re playing Russian roulette with your savings.

You’re conflating federally mandated paid leave with individual employer policies or state-specific laws in the U.S., which are not the same thing. The U.S. has no federally mandated paid leave, unlike most developed nations. As for the tax argument, it’s redundant. High-tax countries like Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Germany, and Canada consistently rank highest in quality of life. Why? Because their taxes fund universal health care, work-life balance, education, public safety, and infrastructure, things America lacks federally. For example, Nordic countries lead in health care access, work-life balance, income equality, and happiness. Countries like Germany and Japan dominate in public transportation and infrastructure. The U.S. isn’t found in any of these rankings because low taxes come at the expense of essential public services. That’s the trade-off.

Of course you would doubt. Left and right wing are often interpreted differently, and their meaning depends on how people apply them. Just like how you think im a far left even though im neither far left or far right. You don’t even know me. You’re just making baseless assumptions based on arbitrary interpretations.

@je_ff_ff @tjiliff3 @wexit2usa Again, keyword being “could”. But only a handful do. A handful of states is not the entirety of America. Thus it does not have it.

My list stated no leave if they joined the U.S which is correct. As it’s not federally mandated. This sets it apart from other developed countries. The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) provides up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave for eligible employees after the birth or adoption of a child. Only applies to employees at companies with 50 or more workers. Workers must have been employed there for at least 12 months. And lastly many workers cannot afford to take unpaid leave, making it inaccessible to a significant portion of the population. It’s based on states or employers. As for Canada, parents are entitled to paid parental leave through Employment Insurance (EI): 1. Standard benefits: Up to 55% of income for 35 weeks. 2. Extended benefits: Up to 33% of income for 61 weeks. 3. Benefits can be shared between parents, giving families flexibility. Some provinces like Quebec, offer more generous parental leave programs.

Exactly! At the time, all Canadians knew was that the virus was described as ‘super deadly’, not just by our government, but also by leaders around the world. Our course of action was based by the severity of the situation. Which was basically to isolate, follow the rules, and report any violations which we felt was protecting the community and ourselves. We weren’t trying to betray people, we just felt we had a responsibility. As Canadians, we’ve always prided ourselves on doing what’s necessary for the greater good, even when it’s difficult. That’s what patriotism looked like during the pandemic. Impo, Canadians handle tough situations significantly better and that’s one reason why I love this country. 💪🇨🇦👌
