Went to watch Standing at the Skye’s Edge, walked home after down through station and up past Park Hill and then this happened.
I’ve overdosed on Sheff! Absolutely up to eyeballs in Sheff! Sheff’d off me bonce!
Me old man’s been in hospital for 12 weeks, was bad, touch and go, sepsis and all sorts of shit.
Back home in Whitby now and he’s just wolfed down some lamb chops, potatoes and peas. Lovely jubbly.
Here’s Big Kev with his first pint. On the mend now. Big up the NHS ❤️
Appalled at
@SheffieldStar
referring to actual people as ‘spice zombies’.
What a horribly callous, dehumanising way to describe someone obviously in the throes of a debilitating addiction.
Sheffield deserves better from its local newspaper.
@Reverend_Makers
I did maths at A-level until 18.
The maths you learn have ZERO use post 18 unless you’re specifically wanting to go in to science, engineering or the like.
Which if you were, you’d know and you’d CHOOSE to do maths until 18.
So enforcing it is just a big fat waste of time.
I’m 42, being doing shit in this city my entire adult life (good and bad 😂)
CSC has smashed it,
@LeahsYard
’s coming very soon,
@thornbridge
announce a whopping boozer today.
Loads of other stuff coming.
Time for people to get on board and be proud. I am, that’s for sure.
Some thoughts on Tramlines (which I don’t own!)
Jamie T at Finsbury Park = £52.50
Snow Patrol at Thomond Park = €75
Whole weekend ticket at Tramlines = £130
Whoever says that doesn’t represent incredible value is just being wilfully ignorant.
Sheffield City Centre is on the up. Yesterday I went up high to see the exciting progress being made in the Heart of the City.
New shops, new homes, new places to eat and drink, a new venue, new hotel and new public spaces are all on the way.
2024 is going to be a big year.
Local area gets positive national press and
@SheffieldStar
’s response is to go to said area and actively find people with negative opinions. Incredible.
So the man behind a non-existent taxi company (D-taxis) and an energy drink no one’s ever had (Elev8) is going to ban fans who wear fake goods?
Okey dokey.
Sheffield Wednesday could ban fans wearing counterfeit shirts from Hillsborough. The club charge £69 for a short sleeve and £77 for a long sleeve shirt.
Tom rang me in the depths of Covid and said we should do this together. I had bugger all else to do as everything else was shut 😂
No regrets, one of the best decisions ever. We love this building and we can’t wait for Sheffield to see it.
A big milestone at Leah’s Yard today! 🔑
We’re chuffed to say that 4 years after we signed up to do this crazy thing we’ve received the keys (a lot of them!😂) to this magical heritage building in the heart of the city we love.
Up with the lark at
@leahsyard
After 4 years we’re on the final straight. Plumbers at 6am, banging and slamming from all the units.
It’s felt like our own little secret in the middle of the city but on the 24th August the doors will be swung open and it’ll belong to everyone.
Doing a 100 mile bike ride and then the day after watching your team get promoted with a last second winner in extra time at Wembley will do things to you.
Thanks to my brother
@Reverend_Makers
for giving me a hug when I started uncontrollably crying my eyes out 😂😂
@AlexMiller91
Fair enough, he wants us to act like owners and bail the club out?
Get an independent auditor to value the club (without the ground) and based on that value sell 2 million quids worth of shares.
Then we won’t have to ‘act’ like owners.
Right, re: match day revenue:
Mr Chansiri stated:
‘The kiosks are already at capacity’
‘Even if there were 10 times as many people there, i wouldn’t be able to get extra revenue’
That is, and I’ll try and keep this as respectful as possible, total total nonsense.
Did you miss the show last night that everyone is talking about following my meeting with the chairman?
Don't worry. You can listen to the full 2-hour replay of the show by clicking the link below.

Something’s happening.
It’s been bubbling up for a few years and we’re right on the edge of it.
Get on board, be proud of your city and let’s celebrate the successes together. ❤️
We’re so excited for you to see Leah’s and meet its amazing new tenants.
From galleries to bookshops, chocolatiers to florists we hope it shows that Sheffield’s brilliant indie businesses can thrive in the city centre.
Save the date!
🚨OPENING DATE!🚨
On Saturday 24th August the doors to Leah’s Yard will swing back open marking a new chapter in the life of this historic Sheffield building.
The first photo here was taken in 1981, the second yesterday.
The best of Sheffield in the heart of the city, again.
The best episode of
@TheNewsAgents
so far.
@lewis_goodall
going back to where he’s from, letting real human beings talk, showing how brutally normalised poverty has become in this country.
Just speaking to people on a level. Fancy that!
In 1828, on Division St in Sheffield, a pub called The Foresters opened its doors for the first time.
196 years later it will return.
The city centres new local.
The render damage to Fagans was more severe than expected, to be fair it was terrible when I painted the mural,my paint was the only thing keeping it on the wall 😅So now I will be totally repainting the snog using the stencil method making sure it’s the same as the original ❤️
"We don’t want to change the heart and soul of the place."
A group of Sheffielders (including an Arctic Monkey) have taken on Fagan's following the departure of its long-serving landlords. We found out what's in store for the much-loved traditional pub.🍻
I am SO excited about this!
I’ve fallen in love with everyone involved in
@S1Artspace
since recently becoming a trustee.
This is the result of years of graft and resilience from those involved and I’m so happy that they’ve now given S1 the future it always deserved. ❤️
✨Some exciting news to share✨ S1 has purchased the former Yorkshire Bank in Sheffield's Fitzalan Sq. The Grade II listed site will be fully restored to become an ambitious new arts & cultural venue for the city. More details here👉
At around 3pm tomorrow I will stop replying to any emails or do anything remotely work related until around midday Tuesday.
I am not going on holiday.
I am going to get WAWAW’d up to my eye balls all weekend and what will be will be.
#swfc
Where should I be eating in Sheffield?
Get me out of the centre and the horseshoe of suburbs we all know about.
What’s going on in the north of the city? Chap, Firth Park, Stocky, Pitsmoor…
Feels like Sheffield is changing before our eyes at the moment doesn’t it?
Let’s see what we can do with this place shall we?
Go follow
@leahsyard
- it’s getting close…
Hang on a minute.
They’re appointing talented, successful people in to areas they have a proven interest in?
Surely this role should’ve gone to a PPE grad, ex-Spad just parachuted in to a safe seat with absolutely zero real-life experience or expertise?
Dunno about this.
James Timpson OBE
@JamesTCobbler
has been appointed Minister of State (Minister for Prisons, Parole and Probation) in the Ministry of Justice
@MoJGovUK
.
Great culture like
@SkysEdgeMusical
shines a light on our fine city.
Invest in culture, invest in the creativity that is deep in this places DNA and the sky(e)s the limit.
There’s so many bloody talented people here that just need a platform.
Gonna take a Twitter break for a month or two. Need to do my actual job for a bit 😂
Peace out. Celebrate Sheffield, stay positive, see people in real life.
Love ya ✌️
Question for Sheffield folk:
What type of businesses would you like to see open in Sheff? Retail, restaurant, bar, take your pick and be as specific or vague as you like!
What would make you spend more time in the city centre?
This is a good thing. Acknowledging when you need expert help should be commended.
And, without sounding flippant, 65k is naff all if it results in a tangible direction for Sheffield’s cultural strategy.
Onwards!
Sheffield Council to spend £65k on hiring consultants to help them draw up a 'Cultural Strategy; claims says There is no capacity within SCC to undertake this detailed piece of consultation and strategy
development so 1/2
A party to celebrate a decade of
@PicHouseSocial
tonight.
Few old bods heading down for a drink and to raise a glass to that weird underground bar that used to be a snooker hall and that everyone thought we’d lost our minds to make in to a bar.
Long live Abbeydale Rd ❤️
I’d say that
@chrismcclure86
is probably the single most positive Wednesday fan I know. He ALWAYS has hope and optimism, always.
I’ve never known him so pissed off with the club and the man at the top of said club.
The play off final was 39 days ago…
Shameful.
I love my club but I’m proper embarrassed by a section of our fan base.
Why on earth would a parent choose to bring the next generation to a game when there’s still lobotomised Neanderthals in the ground.
Kick It Out was dismayed to hear some Sheffield Wednesday fans booing Kasey Palmer during the FA Cup tie against Coventry City at Hillsborough on Friday night.
Kasey was racially abused at the same venue last weekend, and yet some fans also chose to start the game by booing
Incredibly happy that Leah’s Yard can be the new home of Jules’
@HopHideout
She’d be far too humble to say it but she’s been a hugely significant champion for this city and it’s beer over the last decade.
Cannot wait to see the new space.
📣 Hop Hideout, Leah’s Yard 📣
We’re thrilled to be joining the new community at

I watched people cry around me at various points tonight. I’m fucking shattered, I don’t know how to make sense of what happened in that game.
I can’t think of anything else that could make me feel what I’ve felt tonight.
I LOVE YOU WEDNESDAY
forever and ever and ever

Revenue on bars is ALL about speed of service.
Loads of punters at hillsborough actively don’t bother going to the bar because it’s fundamentally too slow.
That is largely a tech issue and one that can be fixed. Easily.
Blue skies and broad horizons from the vantage point of Norfolk Park this morning.
There is something in the topography of this place isn’t there? Been thinking about it since our
@chrismcclure86
’s piece in Exposed last month.
The psycho-geography of Sheffield.
Not much to add to the whole
#swfc
shitstorm but the amount of Chansiri apologists I still see really astounds me.
After everything that’s happened under his watch to have any faith in his competence/motivation/honesty is beyond baffling and bordering on total delusion.
Lots of fans saying things like ‘it’d be nice to just finish mid table and be relaxed’
You know what’s happening?
If we keep Rohl?
We’re going up.
Bookmark it.
The vast majority of people are decent.
The idiots are often loud and this online sewer echos all around them, emboldens them and makes them feel like there’s loads of them.
There isn’t.
Today they were shown that.
This is fantastic news for the region. Huge congrats to
@olivercoppard
, the
@SouthYorksMCA
and everyone behind the scenes who’ve worked so hard to get this over the line.
A proper, tangible win for South Yorkshire. ✊
I have some exciting news to share with you all. Next year I will be moving my gallery to the new
@leahsyard
development. It will mean my gallery on Sharrow Vale will be closing but I am really excited for this new chapter. follow the link for more:
Are the sausages that Nick makes at Pipers in Crosspool the most delicious food product made in Sheffield?
I think they might be.
I’ve just eaten one that changed the fabric of space time whilst I was eating it.
A transcendental banger
People can choose to celebrate, or not, whatever they please.
A few nice buildings with good stuff in them isn’t a panacea to a big complex cities problems, that’s for sure.
But i’ll likely continue to be a gobby drum banger on Twitter though so you might have to mute me 😂
….”whopping boozers” & the like - 4 all kinds of reasons.
So can I p l e a s e request u leave out endless exhortations in your tweets to us all to “get on board” “be proud” “stop moaning” etc. Many have other priorities & measure city ‘success’ differently. It’s allowed.
In the few times I’ve met Tom I’ve only ever been impressed. A good person who genuinely cares about our city.
Chuffed for him and excited for the future.
Thanks so much to
@shefunievents
for making yesterday so enjoyable.
It was hugely inspiring to see the graduates from all over the world celebrating their hard work.
What a jewel in this cities crown that University is.
The O’Hara’s had a good day ❤️
Thanks for all the

Massive thanks to

@SheffCouncil
It wouldn’t have happened without our benevolent overlords 🙏
Now buy tickets so they don’t have me hung, drawn and quartered on barkers pool.
Well, this is absolutely excruciating isn’t it.
Nuclear levels of entitlement.
We’ve just got to get people like this out of power.
What happened to public service? Caring about the people you represent?
He just laughs in her face!
Prickly Sunak meets member of public.
Patronises them, laughs at them, and then walks away halfway through encounter.
A genuine sign of contempt from PM towards ordinary voters.
Trying to book somewhere to eat on Saturday night in Sheff and EVERYWHERE seems to be fully booked. Which is absolutely brilliant!
But, I still want to eat, so where should me and my (considerably) better half try that we haven’t?
Introduce a non-standard bottle, that glass makers don’t make and if they do it’ll be for a tiny market, so will be extortionate, at a time when glass prices are already through the roof?
Desperate, desperate stuff from the ‘party of business’.
🍾Thanks to Brexit, British vineyards will be able to sell still & sparkling wine in 200ml, 500ml & 568ml ‘pint’ sizes
900 vineyards across Britain already produce 12.2m bottles of wine each year, so this will help support businesses and grow the economy
Walked past Ozmen’s, felt impulsive because I’m a spontaneous renegade sort of guy.
Came out with Greek cheese, miso soup mix, some weird pickles, udon noodles, a slab of pork belly and….
Camel Milk.
Got some lovely new specs from
@EyeyeSheffield
last week.
Then
@AmyRosannaOHara
’s suggested I looked like a serial killer, specifically Jeffrey Dahmer.
Needless to say I won’t be doing Movember this year…
However complicated and mind-crushingly stressful I seem intent on making my life, at the end of most days I get to sit for a bit and watch telly with my pal. The Scruff, my Romanian prince ❤️
Some great responses to this.
Some absolutely batshit stuff too obviously 😂
Also a fairly alarming amount of people asking for stuff that already exists that they weren’t aware of. Which probably poses another issue entirely around awareness of what’s actually here.

is officially open. It’s been such a pleasure capturing this project over the last few years and to see it with people in shopping and enjoying the space is great. Congratulations to

A word about our kid
@chrismcclure86
Tonight he’ll do stand up to a sold out City Hall. Me and him been through everything imaginable together.
Our Dad will be watching down on him proud as punch
Could not prouder of what’s he’s achieving with his talents

What a weekend at Hillsborough Park for
@tramlines
.
There was a lot of rain during the festival and that means more work is required to return the park to its usual high quality. We're supporting Tramlines to get this sorted.
More on the plan:
I subscribe, and it’s great.
No clickbait, no pointless doom-mongery, no ambulance chasing.

Absolutely cannot wait for this on Friday at
@showroomcinema
. One of the greatest British films of all time followed by a chat with
@WarpFilms
’s Mark Herbert.
Hopefully Mark talks about the film rather than the newts he’s made friends with in his pond…
‘The first Yemeni MP? It’s quite a lot of pressure.’
@Abtisam_Mohamed
overcame a rocky start at school to succeed in both law and politics.
Now, in just a few months’ time, she could become Sheffield’s first Muslim MP.
50 days off booze and the clarity’s torturous.
No wonder I drank so much if this is what it’s like actually having thoughts 😂
I’m better at EVERYTHING but beer’s nice innit?
Big up
@AmyRosannaOHara
for being supportive and abstaining in solidarity with a big fat booze monster
Incredibly chuffed with the new branding for
@KelhamBrewery

@Peter_Pipes
and his team have taken the spirit of a 30 year old beer and given it life for the next 30.
This is just the beginning…
Kelham Island. A man-made island, formed when a stream was diverted to power a mill, the birth of Industry, Sheffield.
The area’s workers and makers have formed numerous diamonds over the years. One such gem is Kelham Island Brewery, founded in 1990 by Dave Wickett.
Still carrying a bout of the buzz after last weekend at
@RandRCircus

Seeing
@RichardHawley

@bromheads
&
@milburnmusic
just reminded me what a special city we are (not that I really needed reminding).
And it’s all I’ve been listening to all week.
Viva la Sheff ❤️
It might be a sign of my age but I have ZERO interest in VR. None.
I actively don’t want ‘immersion’ - I don’t want to be anymore cut off from the world than I already am
There’s not enough community and human connection as it is. Why would I want to dislocate myself even more?
