If Trump manages to stop the war, in a way that is acceptable to the Ukrainians, it will be very special indeed.
⚡️ Trump confirms call with Putin, says Ukraine peace negotiations to start 'immediately.' In a post on Truth Social, Trump said both agreed that "we want to stop the millions of deaths taking place in the War with Russia/Ukraine."

Watch this to see what a shambles the assisted suicide bill has become. Time to bring it to an end.
I did something unusual this evening: playing an interview filmed last night that now seems completely out of date. Which is basically breaking all the rules of television and journalism. But there's a reason 👇

I genuinely feel for the Commissioner here, he is trying to do the right thing and get rid of the rot and he is being prevented by employment law, such a sorry state of events. Dangerous people will be able to operate in the police because of this.
It is absurd that we cannot lawfully sack officers who fail vetting. We refuse to let officers that are not fit to wear the uniform police your streets or work alongside other officers. Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley's statement on the legal challenge to Operation Assure ⬇️

There are public servants and then there is @cjsnowdon slaying all these looney Letby cranks. Read this, it's long, but it's worth it.
Many eminent people have said how much they agree with this article. If you haven’t read it, please do.

She is where she belongs for the rest of her life.
Trial by press conference or trial by jury - I know which I prefer. “Court of Appeal will not tolerate appellants repeating arguments that have already been made & repackaging evidence that has already been presented.” This, from @cjsnowdon:

I'm all for removing people from the UK who shouldn't be here, and for doing whatever it takes to stop the boats. But filming people's deportations for what is essentially a promo video? That's just unpleasant. These people are still people and should be treated with dignity
Times weekend read: * Keir Starmer to take the fight to Reform on migration with series of videos of illegal migrants being removed from UK * No 10 had feedback that voters didn’t believe deportations were at highest level since 2017 - this is their attempt to show them * But will it be enough? Small boats keep coming - 1,400+ this year - and most of those deported didn’t come on small boats in first place * Labour MPs worried about Reform want hotels housing asylum seekers in their constituencies closed plus more hardline policies from Govt * Starmer allies say he is up for fight and not ‘squeamish’ - he’s prepared to go harder on migration, planning and other issues * But ministers question how rhetoric squares with Attorney General’s approach to legal risk. Talk of ‘Hermerisarion’ of govt * Starmer allies insist no reshuffle this year, but he’s only given assurances to Rachel Reeves and David Lammy that their jobs are safe * Starmer told Cabinet ministers on Friday that they have to govern like disruptors - or they will be disrupted themselves
