Highgate Cemetery this morning. Didn’t manage to find the grave of Sir Archibald Murray, commander of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force 1916-17, but did spot a number of Commonwealth War Graves.

@AdrianGregory20 Flew direct with Tunisair. Quite handy as there was only about 15 of us on the entire flight so it ended up taking off 5 mins early!

Another buried there is Dr Isobel Addy Tate, who served with the Serbian Relief Fund before contracting typhoid and returning to the UK. She later died of illness while working at the Valletta Military Hospital in Malta attached to the Royal Army Medical Corps.

Imtarfa Military Cemetery near Mdina, where the burials range from pre-First World War to post-Second World War. Some of the gravestones display bomb damage sustained during attacks on the nearby RAF Ta Kali airfield during the Second World War.

Birthday morning well-spent visiting the Lascaris War Rooms, which served as the advance Allied HQ during Operation Husky. As well as the tunnels themselves, the Operation Husky exhibition is very well-done and filled with interesting artefacts.

@AdrianGregory20 It does provide some pretty impressive views in all directions and there’s quite a lot of the fort itself accessible.

Highlights of a Christmas Day stroll around the Kastellet in Copenhagen, including monuments to the Danish fallen of the Second World War and Private Thomas Dinesen, who received the Victoria Cross while serving with the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War.
