What if I told you Aristotle's conception of substance corresponds with entropy and quantum mechanics in their own respective ways?
Just occurred to me that symmetries in modern physics relate very closely to Aristotle's discussions on first principles, substances, and contraries in both the Physics and Metaphysics. Would like to do a space on how philosophy, particularly metaphysics, can help science.

RT @JacobsArche: One of the aspects of studying Plato is that, like the Bible, you only need to read a few pages and you'll have enough to…

Dig dug is correct. A good life is one well fought.
I hab a fever right now. Trying to clench my teeth and follow @dominbydigdug 's advice to just endure the fever so that the body's fighting power is not shackled by fever reducers.

Emmy Noether showed that fundamental physical laws are really just a consequence of simple symmetries. A century later, her insights continue to shape physics. @shalmawegs reports:

Condensed matter physics. Very relevant for modern electronics and computation.

Magnanimity is like justice, being political in nature, and to be without it is to abandon the good of your people.
Say what you will about USAID, but what it demonstrates is that the left fundamentally understands something that the right does not: patronage networks. The right leaves this crucial component of political systems of soft power to "market forces" which mysteriously never seem to materialize in any real tangible way. We've been forced for the past decade to struggle and get by on helping out each other with what little resources we have at our disposal while the left sent every facet of its base billions of dollars. There's a lesson to be learned here.

It would be fair to suppose, with all the necessary qualifications, that humanity won't see technology and art develop this slow again.
It is a quite remarkable fact that more time elapsed BETWEEN the painting of these ice age horses [LEFT: Chauvet cave >33,000 years ago and RIGHT: Niaux cave ~15,000 years ago] than has passed since the Niaux cave art and now!
