Illinois CEE ‘20. Railroad engineer but don’t drive trains. Either tweeting about locomotives, poker, Waffle House, or the Illini. Views are my own. he/him/his
Every campus has one building that doesn't make sense. For me it was this one. Only had one class in Crosley and dropped the class after 2 weeks because the room had zero windows and I felt like I was in jail.
Any rando buildings like this on your campus???
Honestly it’s so sad to see useful fixed infrastructure abandoned for subpar replacements in the form of battery electric buses. Trolleybuses have no tailpipe emissions, lesser range limitations and have extended off-wire range these days. Networks should be expanded!
The craziest post-win crowd I’ve seen ever? Leaving the arena was insanity…like, the crowd was more hyped than when we won B1G in Indy. Just incredible. Love this team, love this school, love this fanbase. I-L-L 🧡💙
Update time: I’m moving to Florida! I’ve accepted a position with Brightline as a field engineer and can’t wait to start work on helping bring high speed passenger rail to Florida here in the near future! 🚄❤️

Thank you for this, I never knew. Roger Puta is my favorite rail photographer of all time. As an Illinois alum like Puta, I’ve taken shots in many of the same places he has and hoped to be able to shoot half as well as he did. This will forever be my favorite photo of his:
Realizing I probably should have done this in the main tweet, but check out the Monticello Railway Museum! Look us up on socials or visit our website at .
It’s 1987. The South Shore is short on equipment. They borrow from Metra to fill the gap. Incredibly cool stuff, especially now that the Michigan City street running is gone. PC: Marty Bernard
Sources: One key thing being monitored by power conferences in college basketball is how quickly the FDA approves a saliva based test for COVID-19.
This will allow for quicker testing and provides an easier path to play pre-vaccine.
As you age, it's ridiculous how fast train-spotting creeps up on you. You spend your whole life being 100% indifferent to trains, and then one day you're like "damn is that a Burlington Northern SD40-2"
ILLINOIS IS GOING TO THE SWEET 16!!! The Illini take down defending national champions Kentucky in four sets, to make their third Sweet 16 in five seasons. We’ll see you next weekend in Austin, folks!
Fuck. So many things taken for granted, gone so soon. I don’t even remember my last lecture of college, already...these last few months with some of my best friends were gonna be great, and now they’re just gone. For good reason, but still this hurts so bad... 😞
If NCAA Basketball 10 was able to faithfully recreate the Assembly Hall back then, I can’t imagine what a possible future CBB game would look like... 😅
The newest addition to the Monticello Railway Museum fleet: CN E9AM 102! Built in 1950 for the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy, this classic streamlined diesel was graciously donated to the museum this year by
@CNRailway
. Thank you CN!
Playing in a poker tournament and guy telling me about watching Syracuse beat Illinois in the national championship. I told him it was UNC. He bets me $100 that it was Syracuse…long story short, I’m playing this tourney for free now. 😅
BREAKING: Illinois guard Ayo Dosunmu is withdrawing from the 2020 NBA Draft and will return to school next season, per his Twitter page.
Significant Big Ten News.

, today I learned that Shreveport had a pretty robust network of trolleybuses (“trackless trolleys”) all the way into 1965 - one of the latest services to be subsequently discontinued.
A story from a year ago - after the game Luka Garza came out to the court and signed autographs and talked with Krush for what seemed like forever. Wasn’t until he was asked to sign the Fran “triggered” poster that he was taken away by the SID. Super great dude, great player.
With El Dorado stepping out of the transit bus sector, that leaves just NFI and an airport shuttle manufacturer left. Only a year ago, there were five “major” players in the sector…not ideal!
Lovie brought hope, hype and attention to a program sorely needing it. He’s the reason I became invested in Illini football. While the on-field results didn’t pan out as I had hoped, he made an impact on a program that was in such a bad place before. Thank you. 🧡💙

Those are the norm now! Dayton, OH’s trolleybuses regularly run multiple miles off the wires as part of the route. Gives a ton of operational flexibility!
