I love that there's a movement in favor of
@buzztronics
being the new permanent host of
@Jeopardy
. Buzzy is a force of nature. And he does what you need in a host -- keep the energy up and give the contestants a sense of confidence. Oh... and he isn't a sexist. So there's that.
Some days I really dislike Twitter and then I think to search my name and find posts of support I never knew about. Thank you to all of you! And to all fans of The Runaways, please enjoy this photo of the band and my childhood dog, Peppermint Patty.
@rsdancey
@elizhargrave
I think it's telling that you refer to men "taking the punches." Why does your rejecting a project consist of the metaphorical equivalent of punches? Perhaps this is why women don't want to pitch you more games?
@CherieCurrie3
They are still the pro-choice party. Young women today no matter where in the U.S. they live should have the same opportunity you had to live the life you wanted. And let's not forget how many times the Republicans in Congress tried to repeal Obamacare (60+).
@CherieCurrie3
Nice deflection. Let's get back to women's choice and women's health. Only 7 states are willing to shield doctors who provide abortions to out-of-state residents from prosecution. Guess what those states have in common?
It's official (by way of a Nucleocapsid antibody test). I have never had Covid. And I intend to keep it that way. So please stop with this "everyone's going to get it so we don't have to be careful nonsense." Those of us who are vulnerable are not expendable.
One of my favorite things is when teenagers and people in their early twenties contact me via YouTube videos of The Runaways or on social media. As far as the internet is concerned, I am forever 17. Which is how I feel inside so I'm good with that!
I accidentally posted this on FB and people went nuts, so enjoy. I'll put a few others you may not have seen in the comments. Photo by Chalkie Davis at The Roundhouse, London (I think)
Ugh. Timid wagering in
@Jeopardy
makes me crazy. And everyone thought
@James_Holzhauer
broke the game. Seriously... you hit a Daily Double in the first round who cares if you miss. Come on people... stop playing not to lose and start playing to win.
Just finished my first-ever playtest of my first game and holy cow -- I created something that people had fun with for two hours! That feels amazing. On to the tweaking.
A long time ago, in a building not so far away, at almost this exact horrible hour of the morning, my mother gave birth to me. Yep. It's my birthday. Whoopee.
My cousin dated David Cassidy back in the day (he even called my little sister on the phone to wish her happy birthday). I'll never forget what my cousin said about him: "He's taller lying down than standing up."
@elonmusk
@ChillMichelle
@Tesla
Your outbursts and threats are what are messed up. My car lease is up next month. Tesla is now off the list of cars I'm considering. Think before you Tweet.
Very excited to report that I am one of five people to receive a 2022 New Voices in Gaming scholarship. The scholarship will let me attend this year's Tabletop Network Conference, a two-day gathering of tabletop game designers. I am very honored and excited!
One more really great story and then it's back to all cats all the time (with a few board games thrown in because--let's face it--all those little pieces are great for cats to bat around).
It is truly disappointing how many trivia teams, given no limitations on what they can call themselves, insist on naming their teams after their (male) genitalia.
Four years ago today, my fourth and final
@Jeopardy
win aired. I was lucky enough to watch it on the TV screens at
@obrienspubquiz
with my trivia friends. Looking forward to hanging out with them again once this Covid thing is in the rearview mirror.
I feel so honored to have been able to play five games with this very gracious and capable icon. Condolences to his friends and family and to the family of past and present Jeopardy staffers and contestants.
@realDonaldTrump
National Parks covered in shit is a perfect metaphor for what this shutdown is doing to the country. Is this really how you want to be remembered? How about asking Congress to improve some bridges and airports instead of a divisive wall?
Am I the only one who enjoys sniffing new board games? Seriously... you can keep your new car smell. Honestly, I think the smell is half the reason I like buying new games.
Much as I would like to say I never fell victim to the '80s, someone just posted some evidence to the contrary to my FB page. Didn't want you here to miss out. (photo by Cindy Gold)
I can't find the words for a new tribute to Alex Trebek, so this one from last year will have to do. I think he knew how much we'd miss him and he knew he had our love and respect.
My favorite part of this -- besides EVERYTHING -- is that the name of the game in white is on a sticker on the shrink wrap, which you can peel off (patiently) and reapply if you want. On the box Rock Hard: 1977 is in spot UV so you can really enjoy Jennifer Giner's amazing art!
Even though I’m no longer on, be sure to watch
@Jeopardy
tomorrow night. I was there for the taping and it’s an epic game. Plus a truly great contestant interview.
Thank you
@Gen_Con
!
#RockHard1977
sold out before the room even officially opened. There will be more copies tomorrow in ICC 138 and Booth 2827. But get there early.
@WolfVanHalen
I remember seeing him for the first time in 1976 and being blown away by his talent. Then I got to know him and discovered to my delight that a great human being lay under that great talent. I am so sorry for your loss. For our loss.
For those of you interested in the history of The Runaways, the original bass player and lead singer was Michael Steele (then called Mickey Steele) who went on to become the bassist in The Bangles. Lita Ford, Cherie Currie and I joined later.
1st world problems: when board game manufacturers say a game lasts 60-90 minutes, but neglect to add IF only 2 people are playing AND they know the game really well AND they don't bother to think about any of their moves. Otherwise, 3 hours later...
I caught so much shade in Indiana for wearing a mask everywhere (including the entire flight each way). But I have never had Covid and am still testing negative. So I will continue masking.
I'm still trying to process the loss of Eddie Van Halen. And then this pops up in my feed, that the first mention of him was in an L.A. Times article about my band and it made me feel all funny and sad and warm inside at the same time.
It boggles my mind to see people at public events w/o masks on. My mother's senior living facility has 40 cases. I'd say
#BringBackMasks
but mine have never left.
All of you tweeting that Kamala got the debate questions in advance -- do you really think it takes a genius to know what questions might be asked at a presidential debate???
@GailSimone
I'm Jackie Fox, the designer of Rock Hard: 1977. Here's part of the prototype of the game, with the temporary artwork. The game will be out next year.
#WomenInGaming
Thank you to everyone for all the birthday love yesterday. Definitely made me forget that it was also the three-year anniversary of my being knocked out of qualifying for the
@Jeopardy
TOC by one game. But hey -- not everyone gets to be taken down by a descendant of Confucius!
If you don't like the result of the election, just look at the faces of the women celebrating tonight and try to imagine what it means to us to see Kamala Harris as the VP-elect. This feels so overdue. It feels, in a word, inclusive.
I generally keep my politics to myself. All are welcome at my game table. Whatever your pronouns are. Whoever you vote for. Just as long as you are kind and respectful to those you play with, whether or not you share their views. I do, however, really dislike misinformation.
The May issue of Los Angeles Magazine (with the crying boy on the cover) features an article I wrote about
@obrienspubquiz
and the
@Jeopardy
champions who play there. It's on newsstands, grocery stores, etc. now.
I am late to saying this -- maybe because it's obvious -- but
@KenJennings
is such a natural
@Jeopardy
host it's uncanny. However, someone (me, I guess) please tell him Medici has the accent on the first syllable, as in Medics, which is what the word means.
Peace and thanks to
#JimmyCarter
for his decency and his charity and for always expecting the best of his fellow Americans. Glad you are surrounded by love ones.
