Wrote this on the transfer gamble #nufc have just made. We’ll know in six months whether it’s paid off.
Newcastle’s transfer gamble ⚫️⚪️ ✍️ Brilliant piece by @JackStanley86

@RSJ1975 @NUFCblogcouk @Atleti @NUFC Even more impressive that he played like he did against Arsenal after being out of the team. He’s such a good player and a brilliant leader. He’ll surely start the final.

@thomashammond__ He is amazing but he’s not even the best in the current midfield in my opinion. Not yet anyway. Scarcely believable that Bruno is actually underrated sometimes.

12 wins from 14 for #nufc since losing to Brentford. 85% win rate. Phenomenal response to what had been a difficult first half of the season. Always keep the faith because in this group of players and manager we have the foundations of something very special.

@slbsn This is the way it has to be when the margin of error for making big signings is basically non-existent for clubs like Newcastle (until revenues can increase). Not a bad thing as it clearly drives high standards of scouting and recruitment.

Everyone single #nufc player colossal. An all timer of a performance from this man. A phenomenal leader.

@Eagle436 @NUFCblogcouk I know it’s absolutely miserable. The PL can’t be happy about the damp squib transfer windows we see now

@Eagle436 @NUFCblogcouk Cheers appreciate the feedback 😀 I did say ‘up to’ 10 points. The point remains though that it just wouldn’t be responsible to willingly take a hit. If we’re worried about big players leaving without Europe how would they feel about starting on minus points? Not good.

@Sukki1975 @allman85 Definitely although they were all signed 2 and 3 years ago before we were aware of quite how restrictive PSR was. And when we still had scope to buy.

@dondatta13 No indication we’re actually interested in these players though. There must be reasons why no clubs around Europe have tried to sign them if they’re available for a bargain price.

@toontoon999 Depends who the someone was. Loans of good players probably come with obligations to buy which we wouldn’t want to get tied into.

@andy_emmers I think we’ll start to see this over the medium - long term in more of a process driven way rather than reacting in January. They will have shortlists etc but likely nobody on it was attainable at a good price in January. If nothing happens in the summer that’s when I’ll rage.

@Brady1892 It would have been good to get a body in but there’s no point bringing someone in who isn’t at the level and January is hard.
